Essential Functions
Position Purpose: Coordinates the Commission’s environmental sustainability efforts to ensure long-term management of stormwater issues in accordance with best industry practices and the Commission’s Consent Decree. Essential Functions: (The essential functions or duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. Reviews projects for stormwater management including infiltration, storage and treatment. Assists the Director of Planning and Sustainability, Director of Engineering and Chief Engineer in all matters related to Federal, State and Local regulations related to stormwater. Develops and maintains written specifications, standard details and manuals for stormwater management. Reviews and recommends new technologies for stormwater management. Reviews Commission projects and develops recommendations to incorporate methods of stormwater infiltration and Green Infrastructure Practices into other types of Commission projects. Assists in the review of stormwater detention and infiltration systems for private developments. Works with public agencies to design and implement stormwater management systems for public ways, parks and other public spaces. Develops and maintains tracking program to monitor type and location of stormwater management systems. Utilizes Commission sewer and stormwater management models for localized projects. Utilizes models to estimate pollutant loadings into receiving waters and updates models to reflect stormwater management system installation. Reviews and recommends new technologies for stormwater management. Prepares reports to summarize stormwater pollutant loading improvements as stormwater management systems are installed. Ensures compliance with Commission policies, procedures and directives, and with regulatory requirements and applicable engineering standards. Ensures all activities are coordinated with Commission divisions and other outside concerns. Provides professional written reports as directed. Manages Commission projects overseen by outside consultants. Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, City Planning or Environmental Management is required; Master’s Degree in city planning, engineering or environmental management preferred. Certification in “Green” or other sustainable infrastructure rating system. Five (5) years of experience in the planning, design and review of Best Management Practices, Green Infrastructure, or Low Impact Development practices for Stormwater or public works projects. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Knowledge, Ability and Skill: Knowledge: Knowledge of sustainable and stormwater infrastructures. Knowledge of fundamental engineering principles in designing sewer, drain and water construction projects, applies scientific, engineering and management principles to the analysis of engineering problems and designs solutions, interprets technical reports and drawings. Ability: Ability to apply scientific, engineering and management principles to the analysis of engineering problems and ability to design solutions to same. Ability to interpret technical reports and drawings. Skill: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; proficient computer skills including MS Office applications and specialized software including AutoCAD and computerized hydraulic software; Operates all listed tools and equipment.

Starting Salary
$1,346.16 - $1,789.61 (Weekly)
