Position Summary
A career in IT Systems Administration will provide the opportunity to drive the planning, design, implementation, organization, and operation of the company’s data communications network, server, storage and collaboration technology. They analyze the needs of departments and establish priorities for network design and implementation to develop new and/or modify the company’s networks and applications. These roles also select, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Essential Functions:
- Implement, design, optimize and maintain technologies including, but not limited to Switches, Routers, Firewalls, IDS/IPS, and VPN. Including vendors such as Cisco and Fortinet.
- Create and maintain architecture and infrastructure documentation and diagrams.
- Design, implement, optimize, plan and monitor the networks, systems and other environments, ensuring activities align with security.
- Assess and deploy improvements to solve existing threats and vulnerabilities related to hardware and software in our networked environments.
- Work closely with the Information Security team to test and validate the systems for software and hardware security weaknesses.
- Supervise the installation and configuration of new software and hardware.
- Primary responsibility is to design, implement, and support systems for Corporate IT environments to align with regulatory, technical, legal and other requirements.
- Secondary responsibility is to design, implement, and support systems for the Operational Technology (OT) environments to align with regulatory, technical, legal and other requirements.
Additional duties:
- Member of Cyber Incident Response team representing IT Service Delivery. Stay informed on cyber threats and vulnerabilities impacting company infrastructure and assets. Follow escalation paths for any active or potential threats impacting the company.
- Assist with defining and maintaining department policies, procedures, and standards.
- Implement Cisco Router, Switch, Fortinet switch and firewall changes, troubleshooting, and issue resolution, and other modifications as required.
- Leverage and maintain network management tools such as Solarwinds, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and other tools.
- Assist with procuring replacement or recommend solutions for upgrades, replacements, warranty, RMA of affected hardware.
- Preferred experience in supporting carrier management, ordering circuits, build out of new circuits and end-to-end lifecycle.
- Circuit experience including but not limited to:
- Ordering and provisioning ISP WAN circuits
Required Skills:
- Submitting trouble tickets with ISP circuit carriers
- Configuration of devices to terminate ISP handoffs
- Monitoring health of ISP circuits
- Participating in, and support of, after hour cutovers
- Managing buildouts for ISP circuits
- Experience with VOIP integration (SIP)
Required Background:
- 5-7 years of overall experience in IT.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Technical/Sciences or equivalent preferred.
- Desirable certifications include Cisco CCNP, CCIE and/or Fortinet NSE6 or above.
- Ability to work under pressure and stressful scenarios.
- Ability to communicate and report incidents and issues to the upper management.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of cloud networking technologies (e.g. Azure, AWS, zero-trust)
- Utility and/or OT (SCADA) experience highly desired.
- Proven work experience as a network engineer.
- Thorough understanding of the current and upcoming network (SDN, SASE) technologies, security principles, and protocols.
- In-depth hands-on experience with routing and switching, NextGen firewalls, anti-virus software, log management, authentication systems, content filtering, etc.
- Understanding of the web-related terminologies and software such as web applications, web related protocols, service-oriented architectures, and web services.
Availability:
Available for after-hours work such as support, circuit and network cutovers, etc.
