This role is responsible for buying and managing the raw material meat supply within the Kraft Heinz Meat Division procurement organization. This position facilitates the short term raw material buying process which includes processing orders, including change orders, tracking and resolving quality and service issues, working with category managers to ensure supply, and tracking and resolving claims. This position also facilitates the long term (13-26 weeks) strategic sourcing process for the meat division which includes developing a supply plan for those time periods and working with the procurement category team and suppliers to ensure supply. In addition, the position will also manage supply risk through contingency planning activities, with some use of market driven financial tools where appropriate. Lastly, this role may manage various transactional activities as related to buying systems and processes, and is responsible for learning, understanding and following all Kraft Heinz and Business Unit policies, in addition to all Procurement policies and procedures as part of the overarching Procurement governance model.
Raw Material Planning
Develops short term and long term plans for the purchasing of the raw materials.Short term buying activities include processing weekly orders, negotiating spot buys, communicating with the plants, suppliers, and pricing coordinator, covering raw material supply needs for the short term as well as long term, and spot price negotiations on the weekly buy.Provides short term and long term insight and expertise in multiple forums to ensure supply security.Supports and executes the Meat Division Procurement category strategies, including least cost formulation (LCF) sourcing and identifying cost-out opportunities.The goal of raw material planning is to manage supply risk and develop contingency plans for respective areas of responsibilities.In addition, this position will be responsible for continually improving our raw material planning process by incorporating best in class techniques.
Departmental Claim Processes
Resolves claims and communicates updates to stakeholders on claim recovery.Tracks relevant data to ensure recovery and will continuously improve the process.Will lead in data collection and track % of claim that is recovered.Will be responsible for negotiation and presentation of claim with suppliers, and management and tracking of the claim KPI’s and scorecards.
Has ownership and accountability for all assigned action items and follow-ups and drives improvements in the supply management process.
Tracking KPI’s and resolving issues
Responsibilities include establishing, and tracking of suppliers KPI’s, communicating KPI’s to key suppliers and holding them accountable to the KPI’s.This position will also be responsible for resolving issues collaboratively, business review planning and ongoing relationship linkage and connectivity on key KPI’s.Works closely with key preferred suppliers for respective category areas.
Long Range Planning
Ensures compliance to Kraft Heinz financial, Procurement, confidentiality and risk management policies, and the communication of these policies to suppliers and stakeholders.Proactively provides necessary inputs for supply agreements for long range planning (13-26) horizon to ensure alignment on availability for key raw materials.Develop strategies for long range (13-26 week) supply by using a procurement sourcing tool to identify risks and opportunities.Communicate risks and opportunities of the long range plans to key stakeholders including Procurement category managers.
Bachelor’s degree required (Accounting/Finance, Ag Economics, Engineering, Meat Science, Supply Chain/Procurement, Operations preferred)
Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience required (Meat or Commodity Industry experience preferred)
Has solid understanding of supply chain and manufacturing environments.
Excellent analytical skills (statistics, economics, modeling, Excellent Excel capabilities)
Organizational skills (handling workload and complexity)
Presentation skills (proficiency in Power Point and comfortable presenting to groups)
Ability to interface with all levels of management in a wide variety of business situations
Negotiations and influencing skills
Excellent communication, relationship building and interpersonal skills
Problem solving, issue resolution and decision-making skills
Manugistics/SAP or other ERP/APS software experience and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite required.
