The Director, Creative Services coordinates the development of advertising/marketing communications materials by creative design and creative writing services to effectively represent the products, services, brands and/or the organization to customers and prospects. The Director, Creative Services requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the function or segment.

In-house agencies have proven to be cost-effective, nimble groups possessing the ability to deliver a strong understanding of the brand and the strategic imperatives of the business. We are seeking a seasoned professional who is a strong strategic, creative and brand champion to lead The Hive, our In-House Agency. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Marketing, the Director of Creative Services will lead high performing creative, production, operations and client services teams. The role will work closely with the brand and marketing teams to nimbly support internal associates and business groups. This is an important function not only for the marketing organization, but also for the organization at large.
Continue to develop the agency capabilities and team, overseeing the department, fostering growth and development of staff across the functional areas of the agency
Manage clients and projects, participating in the development of communications strategies and creative product
Organize and develop associates in graphics, videography, print collateral, internal marketing and ad-writing/copyright
Act as a brand ambassador, championing the brand positioning at every point of contact, upholding integrity of creative standards and ensuring brand consistency across all communications
Enables development of fresh, compelling creative concepts that add to the consumer experience and build the brand
Provide subject matter expertise on creative aspects of lines-of-business marketing initiatives from brief through production/launch
Provide quality and out-source savings by realizing efficiencies and streamlined processes in order to ensure financial targets are met
Keeps contemporary about changes in industry, competitors, target audiences and marketplace
Act as evangelist across the enterprise to promote the capabilities of the agency and how it can contribute to improved business results.
Key Candidate Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a strong leader with a proven track record of agency experience to help shape the culture to retain and attract top talent that will help expand and elevate the capabilities and performance of the agency. The person should exhibit proven acumen and artistry around conceptualizing ideas and branding with leadership that is both visionary and adept at the details. In addition, the following qualifications and attributes are sought:
Has a strong ability to build networks and strong business relationships
Can build and maintain positive client relationships
Positively influences and contributes to the development of marketing communications and creative strategy and creative work product
Fosters an efficient process both internally, within the in-house team, and across client organizations
Is able to promote and elevate agency visibility
Proven experience leading a high performing team and a record of success in developing team members for advancement into roles of increasing responsibility
Technical Qualifications (Required)
Creative capacity – think big, think different; approach Humana’s brand from an outside in mentality with a critical eye that protects the brand and our image
Fortune 250 In-House Agency or external ad agency experience
Technical Qualifications (Preferred)
Experience with a regulated industry
Experience managing large budgets and/or P&L
Record of success in expanding the capabilities and performance of an agency.
Masters/technical degree in advertising, communication, journalism, design, or business is highly desirable
Extensive experience in Creative roles of increasing responsibility for a Fortune 250 Brand's In-House Agency or an external firm that understands the size and scope of Humana and how to be the voice for the brand throughout the enterprise
Experience with in-house advertising, email, digital, Social Media, Customer communications, graphics, videography, and print collateral
Experience partnering with Brand Ambassadors and business leaders throughout the enterprise to understand business and marketing strategies and translate those strategies into smart, exciting, and innovative approaches
