Facebook’s security team is seeking a highly talented and motivated Security Engineering Intern. With over 2.5 billion people using Facebook with over one hundred offices around the globe, a career at Facebook offers countless ways to make an impact in one of the fastest growing organizations in the world. The Security team at Facebook protects the security, privacy and integrity of the data for over 2.5 billion people. We are the team responsible for the engineering of environments that Facebook depends on to build the privacy- focused social network platform. Our focus is on the proactive detection and prevention of internal and external threats against the company systems and infrastructure; by designing and implementing scalable security solutions. We make life hard for the bad guys. For this role the ideal candidates are passionate about the security of internally-hosted and built environments, as well as cloud-hosted infrastructure and services. This position is located in Menlo Park, CA and will begin in Summer 2020.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop solutions to harden platforms and increase the security posture of FB’s corporate infrastructure
Build internal tools that inhibit an attacker’s ability to compromise our infrastructure and systems
Assess and implement vendor security solutions that support our mission
Perform security assessments of anything from a physical security system to a complex web application
Proactively find and fix security problems
Address sensitive content issues, including but not limited to graphic images, videos and writings, offensive or derogatory language, and other objectionable material
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of Internet security issues and the threat landscape
Understanding of host, network and application security
Background in GNU/Linux, Windows and OS X
Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, and network services such as DNS, SMTP, DHCP, etc,
Knowledge of using and writing scripts in PHP, Python, or Bash, etc.
Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Must be currently enrolled in a full-time degree program and returning to the program after the completion of the internship/co-op
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
Intent to return to full-time degree program after completion of the internship
