Job Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all warehouse operations in a Safe Quality Food (SQF) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) regulated food processing facility. This role ensures that the warehouse operates efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all regulatory requirements, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Warehouse Operations:
- Manage and supervise daily warehouse activities including receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipping.
- Ensure timely and accurate receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods.
- Oversee the maintenance and organization of the warehouse layout to ensure efficient space utilization.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with SQF, USDA, and other relevant regulations and standards.
- Implement and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for warehouse operations.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Promote and enforce a safe working environment, adhering to OSHA and other safety regulations.
- Inventory Management:
- Implement and maintain inventory control systems to ensure accurate inventory records.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories.
- Manage inventory levels to optimize space and meet production and customer demand.
- Team Management:
- Lead, train, and develop warehouse staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Schedule and allocate work to warehouse staff, ensuring adequate coverage for all shifts.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.
- Logistics Coordination:
- Coordinate with suppliers, vendors, and transportation companies to ensure timely delivery and shipment of goods.
- Manage and optimize inbound and outbound logistics processes.
- Resolve any issues related to transportation, delivery, and shipping.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices in warehouse operations.
- Utilize data and metrics to monitor performance and drive efficiency.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of warehouse activities, including receipts, shipments, and inventory levels.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on warehouse performance, inventory status, and compliance metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in a food processing environment.
- Strong knowledge of SQF, USDA, and other relevant food safety and quality regulations.
- Experience with inventory management systems and warehouse management software.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures typical of a warehouse environment.
- Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Working Conditions:
- This position may require occasional overtime and weekend work.
- The role involves working in a warehouse environment where personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
