A Tool Maker/EDM operator is expected to be able to operate conventional machinery, understand dimensional tolerances; read blueprints and perform set-up on various tools and machines types. Should have a basic understanding materials, shop travelers and quality procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Run production conventional machinery with care and efficiency.
Perform set-ups and be able to repair and manufacture tooling and fixtures.
Be able to repair tooling and fixtures by inspecting them to the tool designs.
Must have an understanding of punch press, press dies, metal stampings, and forming.
Should have a basic understanding of heat treat processes and Rockwell hardness conditions.
Ensure that documents are complete and that schedules are met.
Maintain a clean and clutter-free work area, returns tools to tool crib after use.
Report tools that require replacement or have been taken out of service.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or equivalent and 2 years experience in tool making and repairing;
1 experience operating an EDM machine or similar machine.
Ability to read and interpret blueprint
Familiarity with materials used in tool making
Ability to operate conventional machines and perform maintenance
Knowledge of geometric tolerances and design concepts , preferred
Ability to communicate, understand instructions, read / comprehends polices and procedures as well as other company information.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Ability to identify problems and communicate them to department lead.
