The Mountain Home Healthcare System in Mountain Home, Tennessee, is seeking a well-qualified full-time Physician with innovative leadership skills and good interpersonal skills to serve as Associate Chief of Staff for Extended Care.

Responsibilities

The ACOS, Extended Care reports directly to the Office of the Chief of Staff and provides patient clinical care and planning in an interdisciplinary approach in collaboration with the Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Associate Director of Patient Care/Nursing, and other health care professionals.

The ACOS, Extended Care will assume clinical, academic and administrative responsibilities and demonstrate positive team behaviors consistent with VHA mission and core values. The nature of the position requires strong leadership skills in administration and patient clinical care; clinical care must integrate quality of care and education. He/she will direct the patient care in the Community Living Center (CLC) and the non-institutional community based and other programs and will ensure that all personnel issues are addressed appropriately and in a timely manner.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday days, additional hours required dependent upon patient/care/organizational needs.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 06/28/2019.

Basic Requirements:
United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Physical requirements outlined below.
Preferred Experience: Geriatric medicine, Family medicine, Internal medicine, with experience treating geriatric population, including Hospice and Palliative Care.

Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard. This can be found in the local Human Resources Office.
