What you’ll be doing...
This position is responsible for directing daily operational, financial and software for key vendors in support of strategic vendor management related spend and activities.
Manage both strategic legacy vendors while supporting new disruptive technology vendors, products, and solutions. Candidate will be responsible for driving new technologies while managing displacement of legacy technology. Further it will involve optimizing and creating cost structures to balance this transformation.
In addition to leading the development and support of central strategies for the Technology organization the individual will aggregate market intelligence, new technologies (Cloud, Agile methodologies) and provide key strategic insights.
Present recommendations to senior leadership in Corporate Technology, Product Development, Technology Planning and Network Operations. Also use data analytics and make strategic decisions regarding trends in technology and services to implement change within Verizon’s Technology teams.
Perform extensive IT domain (Cloud platforms, API management, Agile methodologies, etc.) research and analysis to fill the strategic Verizon vendor funnel in order to drive innovation/growth/cost containment within Verizon. In depth analysis of various Vendor specific parameters such as financials, market impact, competitors, solution strength, trial results etc. needs to be performed in order to onboard the vendor. To meet organizations goals/objectives, the employee will then use his/her best judgment to select the best vendor for a particular technology.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.
Knowledge of Infrastructure and Technology.
Knowledge of current IT systems that includes hardware, software, and cloud.
Knowledge of current technologies, suppliers, challenges and emerging architectures needed to drive transformation.
Effectively and efficiently matching internal needs with new supplier’s capabilities.
Manage relationship with incubator companies and be in tune with next generation technologies like Cloud platforms, DevOps, AI, etc.
Experience in IT Vendor management.
Knowledge of Agile Development, continuous integration and automation testing.
Experience with cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service platforms: AWS, Google Compute Engine, Azure, Soft Layer, OpenStack, etc…
Experience in licensing and SaaS
TCO analysis and presentation
Self-motivated and a self-starter with positive can do attitude.
Knowledge in creating business case, use cases, storytelling and driving change.
Ability to work successfully in a cross functional team environment.
Ability to communicate the changes in the external world and its implications to Verizon and developing a call to action plan.
Excellent communication, writing, presentation, problem solving and analytical skills.
Works efficiently and independently with minimal supervision.
