Design and development of fully automated, complex miniaturized precision platforms/ mechatronics. Integration of mechanical, software and electrical systems to work together reliably
Modeling with COMSOL and MATLAB for device simulation
Using CAD systems (Inventor, Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD or an equivalent) for prototype design
Fabrication of prototypes using CNC Mill, 3D Printer, and Laser Cutter as well as outsourced services injection molding, embossing and die-cutting.
Performing image and data analysis
Designing sensor interface circuitry and coding microcontrollers
Preparing progress reports, ensuring timely completion of all relevant cross-functional deliverables, and ensuring appropriate documentation (layout/ 3D design assembly/2D drawings / Bills of Material)
Exceling at evaluating large set of possibilities and tradeoffs in complex engineered systems and selecting an optimal solution
Reading the relevant publications/literature to stay updated in the field.
Assisting in writing competitive proposals.
Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Communicating, brainstorming and collaborating with a diverse, close-knit team
Ph.D. degree in Engineering. Several years of Postdoctoral experience is a plus
Track record of innovative research and development as demonstrated by publications, patents, or work experience.
Hands-on experience with machining and other fabrication processes
Experience with part specification and tolerances for fabrication
Demonstrated experience with design and automation of highly complex miniaturized, precision platforms / mechatronics
Demonstrated hand-on experience with system design, electronics, mechanical and software integration
Hands-on experience with PCB design including proficiency with a PCB tool such as Altium, OrCAD, Eagle, or an equivalent
Experience with digital and analog signal processing concepts
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with CAD systems (Inventor, Solidworks, Creo, AutoCAD, or an equivalent) for prototype design, and COMSOL, Multiphysics, and MATLAB, for device simulations.
Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience with laboratory automation. LabView experience is desired
Experience with data analysis and computational skills including univariate and multivariate statistical analysis, proficient in MATLAB, Java, Python, or R
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in rapid prototyping and 3D printing
Hands-on experience of designing and building of Electro Mechanical Devices/Systems including developing microcontroller-based electro-mechanical devices
Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical and electronic circuits using multimeters, oscilloscope, etc.
Experience with working in a regulated environment (either direct GMP or technical support), and/or familiarity with compliance and regulatory requirements of the FDA
Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas and information clearly, effectively, and frequently (verbal and written)
Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
Excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic team environment
Willingness to work outside the established field of expertise
Possessing a high level of motivation, initiative, and sense of urgency
Excited for continuous professional development
