The laboratory technician will perform lab test/analysis of batches and calculate batch corrections for various products and will resolve immediate quality related issues that may impact production. In addition they will work to maintain QIB and RFT indices. Safety is everyone's responsibility. There are two positions available and both will be on an off-shift and may include scheduled weekends to meet production needs. Overtime up to 60 total hours/week is possible. This is a union position. The laboratory technician may be required to assist in other departments to resolve immediate quality related issues that may impact production. Crews will participate in the management of the day-to-day operations of their area of the business including production, administrative and support functions. Crew members are expected to utilize all their skills and to continue to further develop their skills so that the crew continuously improves. Employees within the crew will work up to their capability to perform a task in a safe and quality fashion. It is understood that members of the crew are to share in all tasks, both desirable and undesirable. It is also understood that there will be no ownership of tasks.

What we offer

Analytical testing on raw materials, in-process materials, packaging components and finished products, as well as conducting analyses on effluent water, lab test/analysis of batches, and calculating batch corrections for product in any department.

Micro testing of in-process materials, finished product and environmental surfaces (i.e. sanitization, water and air monitoring)

Creating computer data base spread sheets and computer generated graphs, and entering data of processing and packaging quality attributes.

Maintaining, repairing and calibrating laboratory instrumentation, and scheduling recalibration and service as necessary to maintain all lab measuring systems in working order and in condition of suitable accuracy and precision.

Obtaining and performing analyses of both Sulfonated and Sulfated detergent products to assure adherence to all quality standards utilizing GC, HPLC, and other instruments as well as wet chemical analyses.

Documenting analytical results and developing S.P.C. charts and reports.

Who we are looking for

Must possess a bachelors degree in chemistry or related field.
Must have experience on and be proficient with personal computers
Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and oral communications with co-workers and management..
Must be able to wear a respirator and other PPE as required.
Must be able to make arithmetic calculations.
Must have correctable vision

Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
From floor to waist and carry up to l0 yards, possibly up or down stairs.
Must be able to stand and or walk l00% of the shift.
Must be able to grip lab glassware and shake vigorously.
Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the job as derived from the physical demands analysis for this job.
Must be able to discern color
