Job Summary:
Prepares floor and wall surfaces for installation of new flooring and other specialty finishes. Installs a variety of floor and wall finishes to include VCT, luxury vinyl tile, sheet vinyl flooring, wood or laminate flooring, carpeting, ceramic tile and grout. Installs vinyl base and rolled sheet vinyl base. Plans and lays out materials for installation to include determining quantity of materials needed and positioning flooring for proper installation. Independently measures, cuts, and installs all finishes noted above. Also, installs ceramic tile on walls (i.e. showers, wet areas). Installs complex flooring designs requiring precise layouts and cutting of materials. Uses drawings and specifications in order to determine specific supplies. Works under the direct supervision of the Construction Manager. In addition to flooring, also performs carpentry tasks as needed based on staffing levels and jobs at hand. Performs other related duties as needed. Must have willingness to work for the best interest of the hospital with due consideration for patients. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with the patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
Performance Expectations
- Demonstrates the ability to use drawings and specifications to determine needed supplies for assigned projects.
- Independently installs assigned finishes, primarily flooring, as assigned in a professional manner.
Qualifications:
Education/Skills
High school Diploma or GED required.
Work Experience:
At least 6 years of experience as a flooring installer including, at a minimum, experience with LVT, VCT, ceramic, and carpeted flooring. At least 5 of years of general carpentry experience.
Certification/Licensure-DUE UPON HIRE
- Maintain a Good Driving Record
Additional Certification/Licensure - Obtained based on required timeframe below
- Specific Installer Certification for one floor finish
