Purpose:
To support development and execution of the highest-priority corporate initiatives and help address senior management challenges. As a Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A )/ Strategy Associate, you will actively contribute to a wide variety of interesting and complex projects (e.g., M&A transactions, strategy development and execution).

Nature and Scope:
The position is M&A / Strategy Associate within Corporate Development and reports directly to the Director of Corporate Strategy. M&A deals and strategic initiatives are jointly established by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Vice President of Corporate Development. Your time will be split evenly between M&A and Strategy but may fluctuate week to week based on priorities and workload. You will be responsible for owning the analysis and deliverable from start to finish, driving project insights, and presenting your recommendations to senior management.

From a M&A perspective, you will be responsible for target research and prioritization, financial statement analysis, developing valuation models, scenario analysis, and supporting transaction execution (information exchange, due diligence, integration). You will also be responsible for creating deliverables to inform and update senior management including the CEO and the board of directors. In this role, you will work closely with the Director of M&A on various opportunities.

Strategy projects will include Corporate, Business Unit and Functional strategy efforts. You will be expected to contribute in scoping and framing discussions that occur at the front-end of strategy efforts; including key questions to address, analytical approaches, etc. Analytical work will typically include primary and secondary research, financial modeling (Excel), deliverable creation and developing insights into recommendations.

The M&A / Strategy Associate position offers a unique opportunity to work on an array of Corporate Development initiatives and build a diverse skillset. The skills developed will sharpen your problem-solving, communication and analytical skills. Time-management is critical and output deliverables will need to be high quality (‘client-ready’), on-time, and error-free to support management dialogues.

Dimensions:
The M&A / Strategy Associate will focus on content development, project management, and execution. Based on the nature of specific deals or projects, the individual will be required to work collaboratively with members of Corporate Development (M&A and Strategy) as well as Business and Functional areas. The degree of impact, magnitude of end results, and employee reporting population will vary based on project type and scope.

Size of Employee Reporting Population: n/a
Direct: Project-based; estimated 1-2 junior analysts per project
Indirect: Project-based; estimated 5-10 employees, including commercial, operational and finance roles

Principal Accountabilities:
Structure, support, and lead M&A activities and strategy projects
Distill insights from deals or projects to address key questions and inform senior management
Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to gather data on targets, markets, customers, competitors and financial performance
Develop financial models (e.g., DCF, market assessment, competitive benchmarking, economic impact) to inform decisions
Develop high quality deliverables for senior management including the CEO and the board of directors

Job Requirements:
B.S. / B.A. Degree required. Degree from a top-tier university in a business-related, analytical, or scientific discipline (e.g. finance, economics, engineering, etc.) preferred. Advanced Degree preferred (MBA, M.S., PhD)
Minimum 2+ years’ experience operating in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. Strong written and oral communication. Experience from a global industrial company, investment bank, private equity, or financial / management consulting firm is a plus
