What will I be doing?
The newly formed Data Strategy & Governance Team supports key functions across the business by utilizing innovative solutions to provide frictionless and timely access to high-quality, integrated data. The team consists of experts in data governance, quality, integration, modeling, and data reporting and dashboards.
Working with the Senior Director Data Governance, you will partner with teams across the organization to implement a Data Governance program to help run Data as an Asset. You will be responsible for helping design and implement the program in several stages as part of a strategic plan to continue transforming Hilton into a data driven organization.
Your focus is to establish and ensure consistency to an enterprise governance framework that aligns with the business and drives ownership and accountability for data across defined enterprise data domains. Further, this role would collaborate across legal, business and IT functions to support the development and implementation of appropriate policies and standards around data domain ownership/management to achieve the required level of consistency, quality and protection to meet overall the needs of the business; define and lead analytics governance process and support the development and implementation of a multi-year enterprise data governance strategy for both data and analytics, to include the establishment of a measurable operating model(s). This role would also be responsible for managing and developing data governance resources with required business and technical skills and advance data management capabilities. The role will have close ties and overlap with Data Management, Architecture & Integration, Data Quality and Reporting functions.
As the Director, Data Governance you should be a creative, innovative professional, a trusted partner with Business Data Owners, Analytics CoE, Legal, and IT. You should also be a strong collaborator ensuring that our data is organized and controlled, while improving the management of core data assets, addressing regulatory requirements as well as supporting the strategic requirements of the department.
More specifically, you will:
Define and implement data governance strategy and roadmap which includes Hilton’s Enterprise Data Governance Council and Data Governance Center of Excellence.
Align Hilton’s strategic initiatives with our Enterprise data management policies.
Create, implement, maintain, monitor, and make sure Enterprise Data Governance playbook of policies, procedures, processes, and standards.
Identify gaps in compliance and work with data owners/stewards to put plans in place to close identified gaps.
Drive adoption and measure consistency of golden sources and data management standards.
Align data management practices with regulatory requirements.
Establish standards that allow consistency and connectivity, but also drive a balance to allow techniques tailored to the needs of specific network.
Support and maintain information architecture artifacts such as conceptual data models, information relationship diagrams, entity and network definitions and standards.
Define and maintain a new Data domain taxonomy and structure to include prioritization and roadmap for implementation of data domain governance practices.
Strengthen and drive a new method to data governance and the adoption of common data management standards across defined data domains.
Support the data owners and stewards in the application, development and promotion of data governance practices that will enhance the business value of their data assets.
Collaborate with business, legal, compliance, and technology to plan, manage, and track data and information related efforts (definition, prioritization and implementation of data initiatives), any evolving risks, issues, document data governance business requirements and complete data governance related artifacts.
Serve as a liaison on data security and privacy issues in a manner consistent with the company’s requirements and other regulatory standards. and collaborate with others for networking and knowledge-sharing advance key partner awareness of compliance issues.
Handle the resolution of escalated/high risk issues and facilitate the escalation of issues with oversight bodies as appropriate.
Develop appropriate tools to analyze and report status (current and trends) for data privacy/security efforts to executive leadership.
Work with functional business leads to develop infrastructure, processes, procedures, and appropriate resourcing to ensure that data privacy and security occurs in a timely and appropriate way.
Find opportunities to enhance operational effectiveness/efficiencies to support Hilton's data strategy and plan priorities and objectives.

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
Eight (8) years of experience leading a successful enterprise data governance program with at least three (3) years of people leadership
Seven (7) years of experience in policy or data driven programs or projects that include working with data driven initiatives, privacy issues, or complex projects that touch multiple systems
Solid working experience with surrounding and supporting disciplines (data quality, data operations, BI/Data WH/Data Lake, data architecture, conceptual and logical data modeling - relational and dimensional) and working knowledge of ontological and taxonomic concepts
Experience in implementing processes across large organizations
Solid understanding of and experience executing the SDLC process
Demonstrated experience analyzing complex situation and processes and effectively integrating and synthesizing the data to form a complete cohesive picture
Supervisor/Manager of one to three (1-3) People
Advanced presentation skills
Experience with Hadoop, Hive, AWS cloud services
End-to-end understanding of the data flow process (from ingestion to consumption layer)
It would be helpful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
BA/BS Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university; Master's Degree from an accredited college/university is preferred.
Two (2) years of experience working with Master Data Management and Metadata Management tools including Informatica, Talend, Alteryx, Apache Atlas, Alation, and other data management systems
Experience with Functional experience in hospitality especially related to the customer lifecycle
