The Portland Water District is recruiting for a Senior Wastewater Plant Operator to perform monitoring, maintenance and operational tasks necessary for the safe and efficient operation of processes associated with each of the Portland Water District’s wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations.

Four treatment plants throughout the service area, 76 pump stations and over 100 miles of pipe help convey and treat wastewater. Position functions largely without direct supervision. Position may serve 24/7 on-call duty, which may require independent emergency response action to issues that may impact treatment and pumping system performance.
This position requires a State of Maine Grade V Wastewater Treatment Operator's license, or must acquire within 2 years of the date of hire. In order to accomplish this, the successful applicant must have prior wastewater treatment experience.
The position has a 6-month probationary period with a pay rate of $30.95, and a regular rate of $32.57.
