Under an open-end A/E technical assistance contract, Dewberry is providing field assessments, engineer evaluations inspections of damaged public infrastructure, cost estimates, mitigation project evaluation, debris monitoring, environmental services, and design services on an on-call basis in the wake of natural and man-made disasters, including acts of terrorism on behalf of Department of Homeland Security (DHS) throughout the United States including the Caribbean and Pacific territories.

Dewberry is currently searching for highly qualified Architects for our on-call team. Candidates selected must be U.S. Citizens and able to successfully pass a Federal background investigation, to include financial and criminal history. Successful candidates must be able to commit to a 6-12 month assignment in remote locations working in excess of 50 hours per week.

Selected Architects will travel to disaster-impacted locations to support FEMA in the delivery of the Public Assistance Program. They will assist local government agencies and other Program-eligible entities in the preparation of grant applications for the restoration of a variety of damaged public infrastructure to include roads, bridges, buildings and utilities. The work includes site assessments of disaster-damaged infrastructure, documenting damages and restoration scopes of work, and formulating cost estimates.

Required Skills & Required Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited university
Professional License and/or Registration is preferred
Minimum of 2 years of full-time professional experience in field architecture, project management or construction management
Experience in design or construction of commercial and governmental buildings, preparing construction documentation, bid and contract documents, and change orders
Experience with modern construction practice, facility assessments, construction inspection, project scope development and cost estimating
Working knowledge of International Building Code, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), historic preservation, and other governmental regulatory compliance
Knowledge and understanding of FEMA Public Assistance Program law, regulation and policy is preferred
Excellent verbal communication and writing skill
Must be computer literate and proficient with MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel)
Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment under stressful conditions
Valid driver’s license required
