Under moderate supervision, this position is responsible for conducting investigations from a desk level for an assigned territory. Provides investigative expertise to detect fraud, limit exposure or protect company assets. May include international investigations. May conduct field investigations as needed. Coordinating vendor services in all lines of business in a fast paced environment. This job does not manage staff.
Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities
Analyzes, summarizes and prioritizes technical information into actionable investigative strategies. Conducts insurance investigations including applicable data base searches with a focus on uncovering all potentially fraudulent aspects of a claim or underwriting file or in support of litigation. Applies the techniques of critical thinking to dismantle complex problems and reasoning through to its logical conclusion. Applies Local, State and Federal statutes to ensure investigations are carried out within the requirements of applicable law and local office expectations. Provides exceptional customer service by maintaining contact with business partners and customers. Acts as a liaison with local/state/federal law enforcement personnel, industry advocates and other companies. Serves as the subject matter expert (liaison) on fraud or investigations to business and industry partners. Applies rules of evidence; recognizes evidence and determines its value to specific claim, evidence collection and interpretation. Establishes and maintains liaison network with claim, legal or underwriting business partners. Identifies cases for potential insurance fraud prosecution and submits questionable claims to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Develops and conducts investigations that have significant financial impact to multiple policies. Remotely directs a network of vendor private investigators who conduct General Investigations. Reviews vendor reports, which includes accuracy, quality and consistency of billing. May testify in court. Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of two years of investigative experience or a minimum of two years insurance claim or underwriting or legal related experience required.
Education, Work Experience & Knowledge
Bachelor's degree preferred.
