TITLE: Network/Server Administrator; District/Town TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time; Pilot Program anticipated September 1, 2018 February 28, 2019 (if successful, will continue); salary range: $75,000-$87,000/yearLOCATION: School District/Town, Hopkinton, MassachusettsAREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidatesThe Network/Server Administrator, under the general direction of the Director of Technology with supporting direction from the Director Technology from the Town of Hopkinton, designs, develops, documents, analyzes, implements, supports, maintains, and evaluates computer networking and telecommunication systems. The incumbent also installs, configures, and maintains both physical and virtual computer servers and maintains the school/town network, and VOIP. The Network/Server Administrator reports to the Director of Technology, with direct input from the Town of Hopkintons Director of Technology. The school and town will maintain an MOU to help support the shared position between town and schools.
The initial goal for the position is to have an average of 10 hours a week dedicated to town projects while an estimated 40 hours per week will be used to support the projects within the school district. In addition, the network administrator may lead, manage, train, or participate in work team assignments, and mentor technicians.DUTIES: 1.Assumes responsibility for the design, development, and documentation, analysis, creation, implementation, testing, or modification of networks or systems or programs including prototypes, based on and related to system/user design specifications;2.Monitors usage and daily operations of the network to ensure security of data, peak performance, and appropriate access privileges. Oversees the day-to-day operation of computer networks including hardware/software support, training, and special projects; 3.Plans, designs, implements and documents data connectivity for local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN), and wireless network systems for both town and school operations; 5.Coordinates special projects including network related wiring plans, LAN/WAN hardware/software purchases, and system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving; 6.Configures, maintains, and monitors Genetec and Lennel security databases for both town and schools.7.Installs, supports and maintains both physical and virtual network servers and appliances, and Storage Area Network (SAN), individual desktops, routers, switches, firewalls, access points, printers, VOIP phones and other network related and/or capable device for both town and school networks;8.Installs and/or oversees the installation of cabling and telecommunications equipment and provides support for handsets, voicemail and new/emerging telecommunications-related technology.
