Under general supervision, the Design Communication Coordinator creates print and digital materials for the Library, including, (but not limited to) event flyers, invitations, logos, signage, t-shirts, signage, promotional items, brochures, and presentations. This is a supervisory role that works with graphic design team members to plan, research and develop multi-media marketing concepts for internal clients, and external partner groups, as needed. The team also executes concepts once client approves the plan. The position and team provides marketing support for 30 Library locations. Working conditions are primarily inside an office environment. May exercise supervision over assigned staff.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Create clear, compelling materials that promote the Library and direct team members, as necessary.
Develop and refine project intake and management process for the graphics team and maintain moving forward.
Collaborates with managers and project leads to review strategic direction and then conceptualizes, presents and executes graphic design concepts that meet objectives.
Schedules, coordinates, and prioritizes projects for a team involved in the production of marketing and community outreach projects; provides esthetic and technical direction.
Plans, researches, develops, and executes concepts for a variety of projects requiring graphic design, such as flyers, posters, brochures, and displays; may use conventional methods and photography.
Attends project planning meetings with clients, team members, contractors, supervisors, and other professionals. During the design process, consults and discusses with the project members about materials, layout, specifications, and product.
Determines size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy; selects style and size of type; and arranges layout based upon available space, knowledge of layout principles, and esthetic design concepts; discusses illustration at various stages of completion and makes changes as necessary.
Determines style, techniques, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and to conform with specific instructions.
Prepare final press files for outside vendors, check and approve proofs from printer, and attend press checks when necessary.
Determines project specification (i.e., size, type, paper weight, ink colors, folds, cuts, etc.) including costs and completion dates.
Maintains inventory of graphics supplies and equipment.
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.
Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in working with projects of varied size and complexity in the areas of drafting and graphics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong demonstrated proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat). Most of our materials are created using InDesign.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including PowerPoint).
Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent attention to detail in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Strong proofreading skills.
Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License OR valid driver's license from another state with the ability to obtain a valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Use of your own personal vehicle may at time be required and proof of Liability Insurance will be required.
