Government/Economics Teacher – Upper School

Founded in 1893, TMI Episcopal (TMI) is the flagship private school of the Episcopal

Diocese of West Texas. Located in San Antonio, TMI educates students in grades 6-12

and is the oldest Episcopal Church-sponsored, college-preparatory school in the

Southwest. TMI offers an optional JROTC program, and 5-day or 7-day boarding for

students in grades 8-12.

Position Description

TMI seeks a full-time Government/Economics Teacher beginning in the 2018-2019

school year. A strong candidate will have 3-5 years of prior teaching experience, with

the background to teach and contribute to the school community through coaching and/or

club sponsorship.

Primary Responsibilities

Teaches five sections to include American Government, Economics, and/or other

history courses as needed.

Serves as an Advisor to a small group of students.

Contributes to the broader TMI community by participating in extracurricular

activities, including the athletic program, residential life program, and/or club

program.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Government/Political Science, Economics, or related field

required.

Master’s Degree preferred.

Three to five years teaching experience teaching at the upper school level.

Experience teaching AP or college level courses preferred.

Skills/Abilities

Practices diverse teaching strategies and a variety of technology tools to

differentiate student learning.

Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken).

Excellent organizational skills.

Ability to engage in reflective practices routinely.

Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and prioritize workload.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team and across departments.
