Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent practical experience.
10 years of experience in managing technical projects in a software engineering domain.
5 years of experience leading teams within technical program management or equivalent roles.
Experience collaborating effectively across organizational boundaries, building relationships, and importing and exporting talent and ideas to achieve a broader organizational goal.
Experience with cross-functional stakeholder management and leadership through influence.
Ability to understand the complex relationship between the organization and its environment, identify connections, adopt different perspectives and quickly respond to changing circumstances in a strategic way.
Ability to demonstrate comfort with changing specifications or standards, and create the conditions in which the team feels comfortable and capable of working through in response to ambiguity.
Distinctive project management skills and strong business judgment.
About the job
As Director for Technical Program Management you will be a critical thought partner to the Assistant leadership team responsible for leading multiple technical program management teams. You'll drive strategic programs in partnership with engineering, product and UX leadership.
You will be responsible for mobilizing cross-functional teams not only within Google Assistant but also within other PAs delivering solutions for scale and data-driven decision-making, to lead, launch, and support our product delivery needs.
Your passion, technical and business depth, and excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills will inspire our teams and rapidly establish trust amongst a diverse set of stakeholders and customers. You have the foundations of an incredible engineering program manager and can lead program teams to work on ambitious goals and deliverables. You are an excellent leader and have experience managing teams across different geographies to produce results in a timely manner. You will also be an excellent collaborator working with your customer teams, understanding their needs and ensuring that your team is appropriately resourced against their priorities. Setting vision and direction, improving productivity, quality standards, resolving systemic problems, identifying trends and implementing change are all keys to success.

Lead and inspire an organization of Technical Program Managers drawn from several parts of the business, with a goal of driving alignment amongst key stakeholders.
Partner closely with Engineering Directors, Product Managers and leadership to ensure TPM alignment with engineering and product priorities. Forecast resourcing requirements for TPM, while driving sublinear scaling. Build a healthy, scalable and growth-oriented TPM organization across multiple locations.
Lead other TPM groups in Search to streamline processes, simplify execution, manage objective key results (OKRs), release on time, bring tooling efficiencies and help teams in overall execution.
