Edgewater is currently seeking a Security Engineer to support our federal customer in the Washington DC area.
Provides support and guidance to Information Security Systems Officers (ISSO), System Owner's and others as needed through the risk management process, including monitoring remediation compliance
Researches, organizes, writes, edits, trains and produces technical data, guidelines, templates, and policy to support the Continuous Monitoring Programs.
Manage, deploy, and maintain security controls.
Guide users to formulating security requirements, advise on viability of alternative approaches and conduct and evaluate feasibility studies.
Support the development of new systems and modernization of legacy systems/applications that are in line with Security requirements.
Development of security guidance, policies, and procedures
Align with and support the execution of the Information Security Program vision and strategy
Manages Teams ticket queue by providing status updates and follow-up on active open Security Engineering tickets.
Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
Information Security-related certification (such as Security+ , CEH, CISSP, etc.)
3 years of experience with IT
Sound cyber security knowledge foundation, to include understanding of Computer and network technology fundamentals
Experience with NIST Frameworks (NIST 800-53)
Knowledge of IT environments, information security, and privacy
Experience with engineering and management of security scanning tools in an enterprise environment to include installation, configuration, usage, and troubleshooting
Demonstrated expertise with multiple Windows, Mac OS, Unix-based operating systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
Thorough understanding of protocols, network topologies, and perimeter security devices (proxies, IPS, IDS, Firewall, and packet analyzers), and network security design
Strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to effectively communicate solutions
Experience with SIEM tools (Splunk, ArcSight, etc.)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with government contracting firms supporting the Federal government
Master of Arts (B.A.) or Master of Science (B.S.) degree
Experience with Cloud providers such as Azure or AWS.
Experience in collaborative proposal writing efforts
Scripting experience (Bash, Python, Perl, etc.)
