This is a research based technical role providing direction for and execution of projects across our North American business. The candidate will be identifying, scoping and driving technical projects to meet business initiatives focused on Innovation, Renovation and Productivity. This candidate should have a proven record of executing work plans and driving for results in a variety of settings. This includes basic understanding of the business need, designing and executing tests, analyzing data, drawing conclusions, documenting, communicating results, and commercializing products. Proven communication and teamwork skills are essential in this role, which operates in a cross-functional environment. The candidate must also have a strong technical background and be able to apply prior learning or scientific principles to new situations. This position requires an individual to manage multiple assignments/ tasks concurrently and demonstrate the ability complete work with minimal guidance. Exhibiting a collaborative mindset and applying innovative solutions are a must.
The individual will identify, scope, design and develop research pathways for new technologies to support different ESA product categories renovations and innovations initiatives
Possess strong technical functional skills that will allow understanding ingredient functionality and process interaction in various food matrixes.
The candidate will need to also understand fundamentally other product technologies associated with applications.
Establish solid project research plans, conduct appropriate testing, gather and analyze data, develop recommendation and assess risk based on finding
Conduct bench top, pilot plant and plant trials to explore, optimize formulation and processes.
Work collaboratively with Packaging, Quality, Operations, Project Management, Marketing, Sales , procurement to drive, scope, execute projects to meet the business objectives.
Includes activities such as feasibility assessments, prototype development, costing, supervision of factory trials, development of recipe and factory documentation, recipe and label development, technical approval, shelf life assessment and technical support for initial factory production.
Excellent communication, investigative and problem solving skills
Ability to lead and motivate others
Manage multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to question the priority of work
Strong understanding of Design of Experiments
Willingness to travel 30% pending business needs
B.S. degree in Food, Dairy, Meat Science or Chemical Engineering or equivalent; 2-3 years relevant job experience
Experience in the food or consumer products industry preferred. Customer-facing experience a plus.
Proven leadership of commercialization and/or margin enhancement across multiple technologies
