The Assistant Field Merchant will drive execution of market specific initiatives within an assigned geographic territory covering roughly 2,000 CVS locations. The position will work remotely from a Regional Business office and report to the Field Merchandising Manager. The Field Merchant leader will partner with the FMM to execute established plans within the consumable and General merchandise categories with an emphasis on fresh and refrigerated including Dairy, Frozen , Fresh Food and Flowers along with seasonal and Niche needs including College, Tourist, beach and Multi-cultural.
The position is also responsible for performing root cause analysis, problem resolution, category research and identifying potential business opportunities. The Field merchant leader will collaborate and manage communication with the FMM, local supplier partners and CVS field teams (DL, RD) to drive compliance to established merchandising standards and service.
- Program Analysis and Strategy Alignment: Collaborate with the Field Merchant to scope and plan any and all financial and quantitative analyses that will aid in day-to-day management of the business and yield critical answers to longer-term strategic questions.
Evaluate Program Adherence in Top Markets and make recommended strategy adjustments through observation and ad hoc analysis.
Manage the delivery of timely, zero-defect analyses to support insight development.
- Product Management: Run Daily sales, seasonal reporting, weekly vendor reporting and analyze market data to assist in decision making.
Partner with Field Merchant to build promotional plans and activities related to everyday and seasonal businesses. Target top affinity locations to capitalize on best in class opportunity gaps. Monitor competitive landscape to identify new or Hot to market trends.
Off-Shelf coordination of off-shelf programs with key suppliers, setting up programs and running off-shelf reporting.
- Communication Development & Business Reporting: Communicate effectively, both verbally and on paper, to Merchandising and Cross-Functional teams throughout the organization.
Partner with outside partners. Assist with communication and reporting on sales performance, seasonal sales and sell thru and ad planning. Distill findings and craft a succinct and powerful business case that effectively communicates actionable recommendations.
3 years of Analytical experience in a business environment.
3 years of project leadership experience.
3 years of MS Excel/PowerPoint. (Pivot tables, spreadsheets, etc)
3 years in the Retail/Consumer industry.
Ability and willingness to travel up to 60% of the time in the area.
.Ability to multi-task several concurrent requests and quickly pull together data.
Structured and Logical Thinking:
The ability to dissect a problem into an organized approach, structure analysis, and develop recommended solutions providing actionable insights. Strong problem solver.
The ability to run and manage quantitative analysis in a defect-free manner. Mastery of Microsoft Excel is expected in this role.
Passion for Retail:
A history of work and/or passion for the retail/consumer industry.
Multi- Unit/ project leadership experience:
Proven ability to lead multiple teams and projects simultaneously.
Ability to communicate effectively, succinctly and professionally, both verbally and on paper. Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint is ideal.
Motivated team player able to effectively collaborate with many individuals.
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or CVS direct experience.
