CNC Machinist - Full Time - La Porte (TX), United States
La Porte, Texas is located just east of Houston.
Join our SULZER team within the Services division in the United States as a CNC Machinist. As a CNC Machinist, you will play a crucial role in taking our services to the next level. You will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines, including simultaneous 5-axis, 4-axis & 3-axis mills, horizontal and vertical lathes, and more to manufacture parts for turbo machinery and rotating equipment. Your expertise in CNC machining techniques, adherence to safety procedures, and commitment to quality will contribute to the success of our operations.
We currently have open positions for this role on both DAY and NIGHT Shifts (night shift qualifies for shift differential pay)
Your main tasks and responsibilities:
· Read and interpret instructions, drawings, and sketches to ensure accurate machining.
· Machine setup to ensure safe and consistent machining operations.
· Operate overhead cranes, torches, grinders, and forklifts when required.
· Manufacture or modify tooling as required to perform some machining operations.
· Perform precision machining tasks, including final cuts, complex angle cuts, and threading. Holding tolerances as tight as .001” for some critical features.
· Maintain accurate documentation of work activities and measurements.
· Conduct quality checks on machined parts and report any discrepancies.
· Ability to utilize Siemens, Heidenhain, OSP, Mazatrol, and Fanuc controls, making some on console adjustments
· Collaborate with other departments, machine personnel, supervisors, and leads.
· Maintain a clean and organized work area.
· Observe and follow the company's Safety Policy and Procedures.
· Follow the dress code and maintain a professional appearance.
· Maintain accurate time sheets and complete required training programs.
· Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as indicated.
· Report safety issues and ensure efficient use of resources.
Standard Day Shift starts at 5:00AM. Being the global leading turbomachinery service provider, regular overtime available to manage the strong backlog and customer demand.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
· Experience working as a CNC machinist with turbo machinery and/or rotating equipment preferred.
· Experience with simultaneous 5-axis milling operations and/or strong lathe experience
· Proficiency in using various controls including Siemens, Heidenhain, OSP, Mazatrol, and Fanuc.
· Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
· Willingness to work overtime when necessary.
· Must have the required tools to perform assigned tasks or ability to acquire them.
