Under limited supervision of the Chief Counsel for Environmental Affairs; provides administrative support to the Office of General Counsel with day to day office operations to include, but not be limited to, legal research and drafting and proofing of legal documents. Under direct supervision of attorneys, renders pre-trial and research assistance in various legal matters. Provides a full range of administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of the office.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and work experience that is directly related to the area of employment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate and 4 years of responsible advanced clerical experience in a high-volume, fast-paced office environment. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience. Applicant must possess excellent customer service skills and professional telephone etiquette with the ability to communicate well with the public, government officials, consultants and other professionals. Applicant must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task to meet schedules and deadlines with limited supervision.
Preference will be given to applicants with at least 4 years professional experience in a law firm or other legal practice environment, experience supporting attorneys with appellate practice, knowledge of S.C. and Federal Environmental Law, knowledge of administrative law procedures and knowledge of Excel and Adobe Professional.
Applicants meeting preferred qualifications may be given priority consideration over persons who do not meet preferred qualifications. Preference may be given to candidates clearly demonstrating: (a) knowledge of S.C. and Federal Environmental Law (b) experience supporting attorneys with appellate practice (c) direct customer services experience; (d) ability to effectively communicate (orally and written) in an efficient and effective manner with attention to detail and accuracy when drafting and editing correspondence ; (e) ability to establish and maintain working relationships with both internal and external partners; (f) knowledge of administrative law operations and procedures; (g) knowledge of Excel and Adobe Professional.
