The American Heart Association (AHA) has an excellent opportunity for a **Director, Corporate Accounting** at our office located in Dallas, TX.
Reporting to the Vice President & Controller, this is a financial leadership position that oversees a variety of duties related to external reporting, consolidated financial statements and review, general accounting, month-end and annual closing of the accounting records. The Director is responsible for financial reporting and accounting for both National Center and region activity, and supervision and review over transactions, reconciliations, and analysis of monthly, quarterly and annual financial data. The Director oversees the year-end audit process and supports staff in preparation of support schedules. This position will provide support to the VP, Controller on projects and tasks as required and will work in a highly collaborative way with others across Finance and in other departments in the AHA.
**Here are some of the essential job duties: **
+ Supervise the GL Manager, Senior Accounting staff and Financial Analyst- monitor performance of direct reports, conduct reviews as required; provide professional growth opportunities for direct reports; proactively address performance issues with direct reports; provide training to ensure consistency of processes and customer service.
+ Oversee and review processes for consolidation, functionalization, coding, restricted program accounting, general ledger accounting, and fixed assets.
+ Review and provide monthly and year-end consolidated financial results and reports.
+ Lead monthly and annual accounting close tasks and ensure internal control processes are met. Review workpapers and reports prepared by Senior and Staff Accountants.
+ Participate in collaborative effort with other Finance teams to complete the annual financial audit, participate in the drafting and review of consolidated financial statements and footnotes.
+ Implement new policies, research and analyze new GAAP standards, document plans for implementation and communicate with applicable AHA staff.
+ Provide high quality, timely customer service to internal and external customers, including regional SVPs of Operations.
+ Actively participate in project teams, work groups and Finance meetings.
+ Complete training and continuing education to improve skills necessary for success.

+ Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
+ Minimum eight (8) years’ experience in the related field
+ Minimum five plus years of supervisory experience
+ Knowledge of the principles & practices of accounting & general business administration; experience in interpreting accounting rules (GAAP) and application of rules
+ Skilled in use of PC applications including Microsoft Office and accounting applications (ie JD Edwards EnterpriseOne)
+ Skilled in planning projects & working against deadlines to provide end product
+ Skilled in oral and written communications; ability to analyze financial data into narrative form
+ Strong customer service skills
