POSITION: VP/Director of Marketing – Life Sciences

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Will report to the Chief Revenue Officer

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The VP/Director of Marketing will define and implement the marketing programs for the Catalytic Data Science corporate brand and product portfolio with level based on candidate qualifications. He/she is responsible for developing the Catalytic Data Science Life Sciences segment position, CRM, increasing awareness, management of metric-driven marketing programs, and developing qualified leads for sales - integral to the growth of the business. This highly visible position work closely with C-level management to shape the direction and execution of programs within the Pharmaceutical, Biopharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Medical Device, Agriculture and Industrial life sciences sub-segments.

Responsibilities include:
  • Develop and maintain overall marketing plan for the life sciences market; includes interlocking segment marketing plans and integration of traditional product marketing plans
  • Have and disseminate a thorough understanding of the life sciences market, be responsible for developing the Catalytic marketing plan inclusive of:
o The overall market segmentation model and priorities within it

o Highlights the market positioning and Catalytic’s unique value proposition within the market segment

o Prioritizes all segment marketing programs, routes to market, and channel enablement requirements to meet segment and Catalytic revenue and profit goals

o Provide education/enlightenment to the organization on market characteristics, competitive positioning, value, trends, growth opportunities and revenue opportunity profiles

  • Understand and deploy life sciences segmentation and sizing tactics to develop targeted product and services offerings and corresponding pricing to maximize revenue opportunity by customer size, buying behavior and core competency
  • Analyze the life sciences market for opportunity using market research, customer data derived from forums, trade shows, and market intelligence received from an array of sources
  • Responsible for developing and delivering a compelling and cohesive set of supporting healthcare marketing content:
o Understanding of key R&D life sciences segment pain points

o Understand competitive positioning

o Create proof points for generated product references

o Balance segment management, product management, PR and sales enablement to arrive at a client-driven approach framework

  • Help drive the Catalytic SaaS solution storyline and value proposition in the market
  • Work with Catalytic leadership and commercial team to understand business goals and priorities; provide gap analysis and revenue opportunity roadmaps for application concept development and investment
  • Act as the ‘trusted marketing partner’ for service, software engineering executive team, and sales
  • Act as an evangelist for solution capabilities within the market segment, telling the story of how Catalytic solutions can help our clients develop a faster, more intuitive R&D department
  • Work closely with sales and software engineering to generate and contribute to Catalytic corporate initiatives
  • Develop segment marketing programs, executed by marketing operations, to drive customer level awareness and interest in segment/product offerings and initiatives
  • Lead product marketing launches and sales rollout of new products/new releases with product management
  • Support Accounts Executives in their efforts to sell product and services agreements through the provision of promotional materials, on-site visits, proposal development, and other supporting activities
  • Lead sales force education om marketing programs to ensure consistent and relevant messaging is delivered to the customer across service sales and product sales
  • Measure and evaluate marketing results, impact on sales pipeline and improvement on marketing ROI
  • Develop and manage the marketing budget in an efficient and transparent process
  • Support Catalytic’s thought leadership goals via the development and promotion of case studies, testimonial, speaker engagements, white papers, etc.,
  • Manage marketing team to ensure continued growth and effectiveness across product marketing, client communication, and marketing lead generation activities
  • At least 6-8 yrs. of experience in marketing of life sciences or healthcare products and/or services; candidates with SaaS experience strongly preferred
  • Expert CRM user, HubSpot, SalesForce, Marketo
  • Experience leading teams in a direct report structure
  • Strong life sciences segment management or marketing management experience preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership and ability to work with a practical, "roll-up your sleeves" style
  • Proven experience in building innovative, proactive, high impact marketing campaigns utilizing all relevant channels and media; and aligning strategy with business goals
  • Proven ability to drive revenue through creative sales channels and marketing programs. Creative thinker with the ability to provide both strategic and tactical direction
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to provide direction and support to others
  • Proven experience in managing a team and growing junior team members
  • Proven ability to develop and manage budgets
  • Strong leadership and teaming capabilities with the ability to affect change across functions, and take constructive input
  • Exceptional negotiation and written and verbal communication/presentation skills
  • A strong bias toward execution and steadfastly pushes self and others for results; ability to think end-to-end in reaching results by considering perspectives and alternatives
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in business, marketing or related field; advanced degree/MBA Preferred
