Reporting to the Director of Events, this position supports vital functions of the Events Department, including but not limited to execution and breakdown of events and for providing high quality customer service that enhances overall success of the event, and supports the Philadelphia Zoo’s mission.
Knowledge & Ability Required:
Ensure highest guest service standards while supporting key areas of event execution on event days including, but not limited to: Registration & Hospitality, Food & Beverage service, Audio/Visual, Entertainment, Transportation, and Event Installation & Breakdown.
Maintain knowledge of all necessary events details such as floor plans, itineraries, vendor list(s), so as to ensure smooth event logistics.
Interface directly with internal departments, vendors and onsite partners to achieve flawless execution of predetermined event goals.
Provide service and support through direct interaction with clients and guest.. The principal objective of all such occasions should be to assist guests and clients as needed.
Act as a point of contact for client, event guests and staff. Interact with guests and for guest support, complaints and for service recovery.
Follow all department policies and procedures while on site.
Ensure the safety and security of guests and preservation of facilities.
Demonstrate extensive knowledge of the Zoo including but not limited to admission and membership categories, benefits and programs, locations of amenities, general animal collection and directions to major highways and local attractions from and to the zoo.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Ability Required:
Outgoing personality with strong written and oral communication skills.
Minimum 2 years of customer service experience. Prior supervisor/lead experience in an events environment preferred.
Able to work a flexible schedule, which will include weekends, holidays, evenings and early mornings.
Physical and Other Requirements:
No allergies to plants or animals, which may interfere with ability to work.
No impairments of sight, smell, hearing, touch, balance, or agility of movement (which cannot be corrected with appropriate devices) which would interfere with ability to work.
Ability to lift and carry 25 pounds a distance of 25 feet.
Ability to perform physical work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to make frequent rounds of all event areas on foot, as well as able to access staff work areas, concessions, and visitor areas located across a 42-acre property and remote parking areas.
Minimum age of 18 or older
High school diploma or its equivalent (GED) required
Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License with good driving record
Successful completion of a post-offer background checks, including criminal, child abuse clearance, and credit history.
Hourly Wage: $12.50/hour
