AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Entry-Level Site Air Monitoring Specialist for employment at our project site in Murphysboro, IL. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
+ Implementation of AECOM Site specific Ambient Air Monitoring Plan
+ Calibrate instruments
+ Schedule air monitoring activities with Project Manager (PM)
+ Perform perimeter air monitoring on schedule to be determined by PM
+ Manage uploads of data to PM and data management system
+ Assist site soil and groundwater sampling crews
+ Assist with Site Safety Officer (SSO)
+ Record keeping of complex data
+ Keep detailed project records related to field activities and instrument calibration
+ Adherence to AECOM and client data management system
+ Ability to effectively communicate the results of the air monitoring program to PM
+ High School Diploma or equivalent
+ Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; many projects/ clients are security sensitive
+ Must pass pre-employment drug screen
+ Must possess a valid driver's license and clean driving record
+ Candidate must be able to meet the medical clearance requirements of an OSHA (HAZWOPER) medical surveillance physical examination
+ Work week expected to be Monday – Friday, 6:00AM to 6:00PM (60 hours per week)
+ Flexibility work up to a 4 hour shift on Saturday and Sunday
+ Excellent work ethic and team-player attitude
+ Strong attention to detail, with proven ability to follow specific instructions
+ An ability to effectively express his or herself orally and in writing to other project staff
+ Basic computer skills; Microsoft Office applications
+ Physically able, with or without an accommodation, to work in outdoor environments with uneven terrain and variable outdoor conditions including heat, cold, dryness, moisture, dust, noise, and chemicals; position requires frequent standing/walking, repetitive or fine hand movements, and lifting of less than 25 pounds; occasionally lifting of 25-50 pounds, performing repetitive bending/stooping, power gripping / squeezing (hand tools, levers, etc.), climbing stairs, keyboard/ mouse operations, and working alone in isolated/ remote areas; rarely performing working with arms above shoulder level, using portable ladders, performing work on electrical circuits, working in an environment of heavy, moving, dangerous equipment, and lifting of more than 50 pounds. Position will include wearing associated personal protective equipment, including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, safety shoes/ boots, gloves, hi-visibility vest/ clothing and respirator.
+ Familiarity with electronics and instrumentation
+ This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization
+ Preference given to local candidates; modest relocation support available for right candidate
+ Minimum of one (1) year of work experience performing entry-level industrial or plant work; or collecting or using environmental data; or performing operations and maintenance activities associated with air monitoring systems
+ Trade certification, Associates Degree(s) and/or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science is a plus
+ Experience with Manufactured Gas Plant Remediation air monitoring or quality assurance/quality control
+ Experience in environmental investigation and remediation projects
+ Troubleshooting experience with electronics and computers
+ First Aid/CPR training completion is preferred
+ 40 Hour HAZWOPER course completion is preferred; selected candidate will be required to complete 40 hour HAZWOPER training or 8-hour annual refresher class
+ 10 Hour OSHA Construction
+ Experience working on construction sites, operating environmental monitoring/sampling equipment and maintaining and repairing electronics, as well as familiarity with analytical laboratory chain of custody procedures, are a plus
