Process changes to the product database. Receives information through the ECN system - Complex products sometimes consist of thousands to hundreds of thousands of parts. A part may undergo multitudes of engineering changes over its life. This suggests that a company may evaluate and process many thousands of engineering changes for a complex product. Over the life cycle of the product, the manufacturer must assure that the as-designed configuration at any point in time will satisfy functional requirements and that the hardware and software actually delivered (as-built configuration) corresponds to the approved as-designed configuration.

Establishment and maintenance of the manufacturing product database. – New and existing product require pricing, new offerings (i.e. colors, options, additions to scope, etc.) require the synchronization of JDE manufacturing database, with the spec tool database, and on line pricelist database. Pricing must be up-to-date and effective immediately for incoming orders. The complexity of the products, make for numerous connotations to arrive at the correct pricing structure.
