The Washington Redskins are seeking an experienced professional to join our Team as the Executive Director of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation. The ideal candidate would be a demonstrated leader in all facets of non-profit management with the ability and skill to manage a high profile, sport affiliated foundation. This mission driven executive will have vision and a proven record of accomplishment of in the youth non-profit arena in addition to significant experience and skill in leading and marketing an organization to the community at large and executing a comprehensive fundraising program.
Capitalizing on past successes and programs combined with knowledge, creativity, and the experience of the current team, the Board of Directors and the Foundation’s Leadership Council, the Executive Director will strive to improve the quality, reach and impact of the Washington Redskins Charitable Foundation in the greater Washington, DC community. He/she will be required to lead in a fast-paced environment and be able to manage various tasks, while meeting demanding deadlines. The ability to work independently by taking initiative, recommending solutions and making informed decisions is necessary.
Administrative & Programmatic Responsibilities:
Directs the daily operation of the Foundation including program development, fundraising, budgeting, human resources, legal, marketing, policies and procedures and compliance with all pertinent government regulations and standards.
Provides professional leadership to the Board of Directors and Leadership Council to assure development of an effective and motivated leadership team including identification, recruitment, training, and involvement of members in meeting the goals of the organization.
Sets the strategic direction of the Foundation in concert with the Board of Directors including the Owner of the Washington Redskins, and the Leadership Council in accordance with the mission.
Works closely with all Foundation funders, donors and programmatic partners to insure alignment of strategy and outcomes.
Ensures the ethical disbursement of funds.
Develops, motivates, mentors and evaluates the Foundation staff building a high performing work force with his/her direct reports that execute the mission and goals of the organization
Actively involved in the design and execution of the programs, initiatives and activities of the Foundation.
Assures the financial viability of the organization through oversight of the annual budget, compliance with standard accounting practices and annual third party audits of financial records.
Develops, executes and evaluates a comprehensive fundraising program that incorporates diverse funding sources including special events, individual and major gifts, programmatic sponsorships and game day auctions and 50/50 raffles.
Establishes and maintains strong relationships between the foundation and corporate supporters.
Acts to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward diverse and high profile net worth individuals and organizations.
Access and develop systems that advance fundraising processes, expertise and results.
Meets and exceeds target financial goals annually.
Supports and facilitates creativity and innovation in Fundraising activities and Foundation programs.
7-10 years progressive nonprofit or corporate social responsibility experience, leadership of a youth serving organization a plus.
Bachelor degree required, advanced degree desired.
Ideal candidate will have both executive management, marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience in a non-profit, social impact driven organization
Strong development skills with an active network of development contacts and a proven record of accomplishment in soliciting and procuring funding from a variety of sources (i.e. foundation, corporate sponsorship, major gifts and individual donors).
Experience and significant comfort level interacting and calling on C-suite executives of target companies.
Prior non-profit/foundation operations, financial management and leadership experience.
Organization experience with experience with competent systems relating to policy and procedures and administrative functions.
Superior oral and written communication skills.
