We are hiring interns for the Spring and Summer where you will work side by side with our Technical Operations team, tackling problems and learning about our industry.

Internships are paid, and course credit hours may be considered depending on university’s guidelines. Interns are eligible for travel privileges, and some may be eligible for a one-time relocation stipend.

Interns are placed throughout our system, depending on the project / discipline. Following are possible locations:

Houston, TX

San Francisco, CA

Provide technical support for base and line maintenance aircraft to ensure timely return to service.

Review and evaluate aircraft damage and design repair dispositions and develop technical data to meet regulatory requirements on United Airlines Airbus/Boeing aircraft

Perform technical engineering substantiation through analysis by hand and computer software

Author and continually evaluate/improve UAL engineering processes and procedures

Coordinates extensively with other UAL operational groups to ensure airworthiness, safety, regulatory compliance, warranty liaison, operational reliability and efficiency


Must be currently enrolled full-time in an Aeronautical/Aerospace, Mechanical, Material Science or related engineering degree program

Must have a minimum of 12 semester hours in core engineering course work

Individual must be a rising junior (at minimum) when internship begins

Spring 2020 occur January to June

Summer 2020 internships occur July to December

If relocation is required, students must be willing to relocate and pay for own housing. If needed, United will provide air transportation to/from internship location

Work related travel may be required, individuals must be able to travel without any restrictions
