We are looking for an intellectually driven, risk-taking communications pro to spot opportunities in the news cycle and translate them into media coverage, delivering competitive advantage to Prudential. This newly created Director position will lead the development and implementation of integrated communications programs to bring Prudential’s digital transformation story to life in a way that is relevant to our customers – and our shareholders.
As you cultivate relationships with reporters at both niche and top-tier tech, consumer and business publications, you will be helping to build the culture of a team that combines the entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up with the scale and resources of one of the world’s most admired financial services companies.
Bring to life a company-wide external communications strategy powered by competitive intelligence and media insight
Design communication strategies to highlight Prudential’s new capabilities, design process, customer engagement strategy in a culturally relevant way – and amplify their impact on product development
Engage journalists at industry, national and international technology, consumer and business outlets to place Prudential as a valuable news source, generate media coverage and establish long-term connections
Partner with senior executives, technologists, product and customer experience teams, marketing and communications colleagues to drive integrated communications programs and tell stories that support business success
Identify and cultivate thought leadership, event and partnership opportunities (conferences, speaking engagements, awards, etc.) for senior leaders and subject matter experts across the company
Contribute to integrated campaigns that use paid, earned, owned and shared media to engage a diverse range of audiences, including consumers, institutions, intermediaries, business partners and Prudential employees Bachelor’s degree with record of academic excellence; advanced degree / MBA a plus.
Minimum of 7 years of communications/public relations experience in a corporate setting, or agency/consultancy, primarily focused on technology or consumer brands
Proven ability to build a network of strong relationships with key influencers and secure high-profile coverage with technology, consumer, business and general-interest media outlets
Understanding of the evolving business model of the modern media industry, and the monetization of content across traditional, social and emerging platforms
Enjoys partnering to create multimedia content, such as videos, gifs, infographics, blog posts, podcasts, byline articles, presentations and social media content
Comfortable juggling development and execution of multiple, simultaneous projects with attention to detail and an unwavering focus on outcomes
Able to operate independently while leveraging organizations of scale
Discern and create news-driven content opportunities to engage audiences
Provide strategic counsel to senior executives and business heads with media intel and analyses to inform business and corporate decisions
Able to work with senior experts and nurture junior talent, delegating appropriately, driving accountability, fostering inclusion, respect and collaboration among colleagues
Ability to use research, data and analytics to guide communications strategy and execution, measure results and extract insights. Package and present insights using tools and language familiar to stakeholders
