Haymarket Media, Inc. is seeking a Medical Editor (Hematology, Oncology) to join the Haymarket Medical Network. This position is located in our New York, NY office.
The Haymarket Medical Editor is responsible for the digital publication of clinical content. S/he will oversee the creation, production, and curation of news, feature articles, expert perspectives, opinions, slideshows, polls, and quizzes distributed via online, mobile, and social media channels, with a goal of providing high-quality content that meets the informational needs of the brand's professional audience of healthcare practitioners.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensuring the execution of daily news and feature content focused on Hematology/Oncology for a clinical audience (will involve writing and assignment to freelance resources)
Maintaining key verticals on the website, including multiple daily main page updates
Posting articles to CMS (including tagging and identification of graphic accompaniment)
Overseeing the creation and deployment of daily email newsletters and maintaining a monthly e-newsletter schedule, including testing and review of ad content
Editing and fact-checking duties, including formatting, ensuring reference accuracy, and collaboration on a multi-disciplinary team to schedule workflow to meet timelines and priorities
Maintaining the brand's social media presence across various social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Twitter)
Ensuring SEO through consistent use of best publishing practices and monitoring growth and performance using analytics tools (Google Analytics)
Maintaining editorial calendar and adhering to production schedules
Managing the brand's budgets/invoices/expenses
Skills and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in English/Journalist.Communications with a strong background in the biological sciences or a Bachelor's degree in science with strong editing skills preferred
Minimum 2+ years' experience in medical education/communication/advertising, with demonstrated skill in writing, editing, and working with content management systems
Excellent ability to edit and fact check medical, technical, and marketing materials, and quick at execution
Excellent reading comprehension, listening, and analytical skills, and oral and written communication skills
Successful record of handling multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines
Experience as a strong team player who can work cross-functionally within an organization and follow through on assigned tasks
Working knowledge of HTML
Knowledge of SEO best practices, social media, and other digital promotional strategies
Understanding of the needs of medical professional audiences, or demonstrated ability to identify the needs of a highly specialized audience.
