The Human Resources (HR) Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department in a variety of activities, including recruitment, personnel information management, personnel policy interpretation, and consultation. As part of the Essential Functions for this role, the HR Assistant:

  • Assist in maintaining an active recruitment program, e.g.: attending external job fairs, as well as internal recruitment events, developing contacts at area college placement offices, assisting in the development/maintenance of Internship program
  • Assists in maintaining the application tracking system
  • Performs background checks, checks references, researches license and education credentials; assists with interviews for hiring
  • Assists with the completion of onboarding
  • Provides clerical and operational support to Human Resource’s staff. Assists or completes projects as assigned by staff

Qualified Candidate will have an Associate degree in Human Resources or related field (preferred) and two (2) years of Human Resources and Administrative experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate must be able to communicate clearly and professionally in writing and verbally. Attention to detail, familiarity with computer MS software and experience with recruitment and onboarding required. Experience with ADP preferred. Excellent typing and editing/proofreading skills also preferred. Candidate should possess valid NYS driver license, insurance and a dependable car to use for out of office business. Must be able to handle PHI, and other sensitive material, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality while displaying sound judgment. Sensitivity toward cultural diversity, HIV/AIDS and lifestyle and addiction issues essential.
