The Patient Care Coordinator registers and discharges patients in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner, properly verifies and updates all patient demographics and insurance information. The Patient Care Coordinator collects from the patient any past-due balances, deductibles, insurance co-pays and out-of-pocket charges as needed. On a daily basis, this position is responsible for the accurate end-of-day patient cash and insurance reconciliation, including missing ticket reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or GED required
· One year of experience as a medical receptionist preferred

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greet patients in a friendly manner
2. Properly verifies and updates all patient demographics and insurance information
3. Update patient HIPAA information and follows all HIPAA rules and regulations
4. Scan insurance and ID information into the practice management software
5. Record new patient referral sources
6. Document the patient appointment time and arrival time on the fee ticket
7. Ensure the check-in process has been completed, then places the chart/route sheet in the designated technician rack
8. Release medical records information to persons and agencies according to State and HIPAA regulations
9. Properly follow all policies and procedures for cash controls within the practice
10. Schedule return appointments and diagnostic testing as requested by the physician
11. Properly document patient check-out times on the fee ticket
12. Refer patient to the business office if the outstanding past-due balances cannot be collected at time of check-out
13. Maintain and understand the proper performance standards of productivity as defined by management
14. Complete any additional tasks and responsibilities as noted in the pay for performance program
15. Must be able to perform the duties of the check-in/check-out process
