Specimen procurement by venipuncture/skin punctures from adults, children & newborns. Ability to perform office clerical tasks to include test ordering into the LIS, answering phones, giving out test results, responding to phone inquiries, & some on-line billing. Prepare specimens to send to referral labs. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested to support the department. Adherence to all hospital, laboratory safety & infection control policies.
Must have a current California Phlebotomist License. Experience in a hospital or laboratory environment as a phlebotomist, with phlebotomy certification. Medical terminology and hospital background preferred. Office skills to include computer, telephone communication, data entry, billing, and patient reception. Ability to perform in emergency situations and at odd hours; has a high level of accuracy & realizes the importance and responsibilities of the laboratory role in the hospital field; possesses good problem solving skills. Ability to be flexible in performing duties and in work schedules.
