The Systems Engineer provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems including Tier II and Tier III. The System Engineer will configure and manage Windows operating systems and install/load operating system software, troubleshoot, maintain integrity, configure network components, and implement operating systems enhancements to improve reliability and performance.
Collaborate with support contractors, government civilians, and members of the U.S. military to integrate, troubleshoot, and document global enterprise IT systems
Provide Tier II and Tier III support services to maintain, manage, upgrade, and optimize infrastructure hardware and software
Responsible for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of virtual and physical servers in NNSA data centers
Perform routine software, hardware, firmware upgrades, patches, and fixes
Support O&M of Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Office 365, Microsoft Azure, Windows desktop imaging and deployment, and virtualization technologies including servers, virtual desktops, applications, storage, and network from VMware, Citrix, and other tasks as required.
Follow configuration management procedures
Perform daily backup operations
Translate customer requirements into technical hardware/software specifications and documentation
Advise on enhancements for government systems design and components; perform critical evaluation and selection of the hardware components of the solution
Proactively identify and correct systems issues, performance, storage, network, application, backup, and recovery
Develop systems reports on the health and status of the systems
Recommend and develop SOPs, Design documents, technical standards, and policies
Analyze and help improve system performance
Document and transfer knowledge to fellow staff through training
Conduct systems inventory and updates asset management documentation
Document and update systems architecture drawings and server rack elevations using Microsoft Visio
Present insights, status, and progress to management via clear written and verbal communication
Provide technical assistance, training and system documentation for users to promote efficient operation of applications.
Active Top-Secret clearance and ability to maintain a DOE Q
7+ years relevant experience in IT Operations environment
2+ years supporting classified systems
Experience with Windows Server (2008/2012/2016) and Linux (RHEL) operating systems and concepts
Experience with Group Policies, Active Directory, Office 365, and Exchange.
Experience utilizing VBScript and/or PowerShell to automate systems management, deployment, and implementation functions
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting Citrix XenDesktop, XenApp, XenMobile, NetScaler, etc.
Experience with blade and standalone servers from Dell, HP, Cisco, etc.
Desktop image build process and recompose efforts for Windows 7/10
VDI profile management solutions
Proficiency with systems protocols such as TCP/IP, AD, DHCP, DNS, DFS, 2FA, Group Policy, ADFS, Azure AD and ADFS, etc.
Thorough knowledge of IP networking, Switches, Routers, and Firewalls
Experience with troubleshooting, proactively identifying issues and driving them to resolution
Strong communication skills (oral and written) as well as the ability to interact with team members, various levels of management, and internal clients with assorted levels of computer experience.

Working knowledge of system hardening (STIGs, SRGs, regulatory compliance)
Experience maintaining and troubleshooting virtual infrastructures: VMware vSphere, vCenter, Horizon View, vRealize Operations, NSX, vSAN, vCloud, etc.
Experience managing and operating VMware Horizon and VMware ESXi 5.x, 6.x
Hyper-converged virtualizations platforms
Application Virtualization in a VDI environment
Virtualization environments including cloud based (MS Azure)
Linked clone VDI architecture for VM Horizon implementations
Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) and/or VMware Certified Associate (VCA)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Professional/Expert (MCSP/MCSE)
VMware Certified Professional 5.0 or higher, Datacenter Virtualization, Desktop
Citrix Certified Expert Virtualization, Networking
