Heavy Truck and Line Mechanic

Capital Ford has immediate opening for hard-working, resourceful, and responsible Diesel Truck Mechanics to join an established organization that has been faithfully serving their customers. You will be working with an established team of technicians and conducting diagnostics, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and repairs to heavy-duty diesel trucks.

A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is highly desired, or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment. The ideal Technicians must be experienced using computer diagnostic software to pinpoint engine, hydraulic or electrical issues, and making corresponding repairs. All applicants must be able to pass a drug, physical and background check successfully.

The Heavy Truck and Line Mechanic must be a skilled heavy equipment mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy trucks, such as line work, oil leaks, and transmission repair. They also will perform mechanical work and repairs, servicing electrical and hydraulic systems, and repairing gasoline and diesel-powered engines.

The heavy equipment mechanic position is responsible for work performed in the shop and field. The heavy equipment mechanic candidate should be proficient in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy construction equipment in a safe and efficient manner. Employee must possess a strong work ethic and be self-motivated.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of heavy trucks.
  • Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components as needed
  • Reads, understands and interprets operating manuals, parts manuals, blueprints and technical drawings
  • Positive interface with service writers, supervisor, parts department and customers
  • Prepare proper documentation of actions taken
  • Able to work with diagnostic equipment for troubleshooting and repairs
  • Maintain conformity to safety requirements and other regulations

Skills and Experience Requirements

  • Strong initiative required; ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Must have a strong diesel engine, hydraulic and electrical background
  • Must have basic set of mechanic’s hand tools
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery; to work in conditions with marked changes in temperature & humidity
  • Ability to safely operate complex construction equipment
  • Able to lift 50 lbs.

Manufacturer’s training will be an integral part of this position. Applicant must be willing to learn new computer, electronic and hydraulic systems, follow safety guidelines as they evolve in our industry, and remain certified within the various portions of our field such as assembly, disassembly, and troubleshooting.
