We are in the midst of two key changes to our business model.
- We recently completed the acquisition of Ainsworth Pet Nutrition (best known for Rachael Ray’s Nutrish line). Our Pet Food business is now our largest segment.
- We are consolidating our West Coast pet food offices into our corporate location to manage our largest business seamlessly with our centers of excellence.

Marketing Strategy & Plans
Achieve annual sales, share of market, and profit objectives for the fiscal year
Develop and drive long-term vision, strategy and annual plans for the business in response to economic, consumer and other trends
Engage with senior leaders across the company to develop multi-year brand strategy for the brand(s) within the SBA portfolio; oversees the budget
Establish the role of core equity, innovation, and acquisition in future growth strategy
Partner with Marketing Services, MDO, Innovation, Finance and Sales teams to implement strategic plans and tactics within budget
Demonstrate critical thinking and proactively adjust strategies as needed to deliver plan
Develop deep understanding of financials and commodity markets and drivers
Analyze and understand key business trends, track and report business results weekly, monthly, and quarterly. Provide recommendations to address issues in a timely manner.
Oversee and approve demand-generating opportunities, and price strategies that will drive profitable growth and increase market share, with recommendations from Brand Commercialization and Revenue Growth Management; ultimately responsible for competitive response plans and gap-closure initiatives in annual operating plan
Effectively provide direction to:
Outside agencies (advertising, promotion, design, research, etc.) via internal partners in Marketing Services
Internal functional support teams/task forces
Channel and portfolio management – responsible for portfolio roll-up, balance of innovation horizons and sequence of projects (with other functional leaders); identifies SKU rationalization strategies/decisions, when needed
In partnership with innovation team, collaborate on innovation strategy and ensure it is in line with brand strategies
Lead new item innovation process for Horizon 1-2 projects
Develop innovation go-to-market launch strategies, with input from Brand Commercialization partners
Responsible for ultimate decision on channel-specific offerings
Build strong, collaborative cross-functional relationships both internal as well as external with strategic retailer partners and suppliers
Work with Sales, Brand Commercialization, Customer Commercialization to activate the marketing plans through a customer and channel-specific lens
Periodically participate in customer calls to strengthen strategic relationships and understand issues and opportunities
Organization Development and Team/People Management
Leads team reporting to the Vice President, Marketing
Coaches individual performance to improve the contribution and results of all direct reports
Proactively models/demonstrates leadership and functional skill competencies, and inspires and motivates team to achieve higher performance
Work with Marketing leadership to build the capabilities of the function
Bachelor’s degree required; Master of Business Administration is strongly preferred
10+ years of experience in CPG Brand Marketing
Experience leading multiple brand strategies
Experience managing a team of people
High energy, enthusiasm and passion about the brand and the business
Highly strategic thinker – visionary, long-term focused
Keen ability to translate Company and SBA strategies into brand priorities; shows understanding of issues relevant to the broad organization and business, keeps that knowledge up to date, and understands the impact of external events on the organizational plans and objectives
