Our business with state & local government & education customers is booming! We are looking for a seasoned security professional to represent SLED interests within the Industry Initiatives team of security architects at Palo Alto Networks. The candidate will take our message and programs to the next level, working closely with customers and prospects in SLED to demonstrate how Palo Alto Networks platform approach can address their security requirements. Ideal candidates for this role have been or are asecurity architect or security technology marketer with deep technical expertise in state or local government or education (higher ed or K-12), and are looking for an opportunity to share their expertise within Palo Alto Networks and with peers in SLED.

Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and expand repeatable message and technical architectures in SLED markets (state and local government, or higher education and K-12) to illuminate the value of our platform to help meet KPI’s in the company’s Go-To-Market plans.
Leverage your expertise in the SLED market and ongoing field feedback to develop and deliver an asset and activity roadmap to address customer security pain points and feed the demand generation engine through SLED-specific:
Customer use cases for the appropriate market
Reference blueprints
Technology webinars
Roundtables and whiteboarding sessions
Whitepapers
Cyber Range curriculum
Presentations at key industry events
Content/blogs/articles enabled through web presences, social media, FUEL, PR, and Corp. Communications
Work with Product Management to identify areas of interest to, or new application decoders for, SLED markets to inform the product roadmap.
Provide sales support in customer/prospect engagement as credible expert with real-world industry experience as needed, to include EBCs, high priority SLED tradeshows, select customer meetings, RFI/RFP templates, and other potential activities.
Provide ongoing input into thought leadership areas such as IoT (for example, smart cities) and compliance as it relates to the SLED markets.
Assist sales, cross-functional marketing, alliance partners and contract efforts with the above including sales guides, playbooks, and office hours.
Continuously gather insights to identify top addressable market opportunities and inform/validate our GTM strategy and message to capitalize on them.
Qualifications
Hands-on security experience that will be fully leveraged to help customers and prospects address their key security pain points while contributing to a SLED demand generation engine
Proven delivery of coherent, impactful written product that spans from C-suite/“business” to practitioner level language
Ability to work in a highly-demanding, swift-moving environment; must balance content generation with meetings and SLED marketing activities support
Experience making compelling security risk and TCO presentations to Board and C-suite to articulate the value of security investments
Sales- and customer-focused to drive Palo Alto Networks platform into the SLED market
Motivated by passion for SLED mission, speaks the language of SLED, understands buyer needs and concerns, and other nuances of these unique markets
Strong working knowledge of a range of networking, compute and security technologies and their applications
Ability to create credible reference use cases with architectural diagrams, and translate technical value propositions into SLED-specific marketing assets with clear delineation of business, operational, and mission-specific value
Independent thinker with a very team-oriented approach
Strong relationship management and team skills
Ability to understand the market, gather market intelligence as needed, spot trends, and anticipate the market
Experience working with different functional teams on multiple projects and programs
Strong ability to multitask with proven track record of execution on initiatives/programs
Writing samples and references for communication and other skills

Experience:
5-7 years’ experience as a security solutions expert or network security architect (or comparable experience) in one of the SLED industries.
10-15 years’ total experience in in technology marketing or network security architect or comparable roles.
This is a full-time position and can be located anywhere within the US.
