The Manager, Communications is responsible for contributing to the creation of exceptional communications content, and the execution of robust, proactive strategies to achieve the goals of Avantor’s global communications department. The position reports to the Director of Global Internal Communications and Community Relations to create, develop and implement associate communication programs that build and sustain the Company’ culture and values. The Corporate Communications team works closely with all functions of the business to uphold the Company brand.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)
Contributes to the overall Communication plan and strategy for the company. This includes improving processes and identifying tools to better year-over-year communications efforts.
Implement best practices and develop mechanisms to track the effectiveness of campaigns and measure overall corporate communications performance.
Create new content for internal communications vehicles and activities such as newsletters, announcements, presentations, video scripts, intranet and other corporate materials.
Serve as internal reporter, mine for story opportunities, conduct interviews and craft compelling stories that inform, engage and inspire readers.
Partner with HR leaders to develop communications regarding Benefits, Talent Management and Compensation.
Identify and implement ways to build and strengthen our culture both internally and externally.
Build company brand in the external market place by supporting recruitment efforts, social media content creation and corporate social responsibility events.
Plan and execute corporate/employee events and meetings
Work with communication liaisons at worldwide locations to ensure that internal communications are reaching target audiences and being received in an appropriate fashion; maintain an archive of communications for easy use by department personnel.
Leads and participates in committees and task forces as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)
Bachelors degree in communications, journalism, marketing or related field
8 years working experience in the field of corporate communications or related agency experience successful track record in project management, writing, employee communications and reputation building
Minimum 2 years of direct management or multiple project management experience.
Experience working with healthcare or biotech businesses/products or a large manufacturing company is preferred.
Experience in developing and executing projects and strategic campaigns
Strong ability to build productive relationships and lead development of communications strategies through interactions with diverse internal and external business partners, including company senior leadership across a variety of functions and geographies.
Excellence in the lifecycle of written communications, including research, drafting, editing and securing approvals. These written materials may include press releases or background pieces, articles, interview briefings or reports, as well as research and benchmarking.

Must possess excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ability to work with various levels of management and possess high comfort level interacting with and providing counsel to senior management

ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL EFFORT (Under Typical Positions)
Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
Work assignments are diversified. Examples of past precedent are used to resolve work problems. New alternatives may be developed to resolve problems.
A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.
