Technology Infrastructure

A division of Wells Fargo Technology, Technology Infrastructure team is accountable for enterprise-wide infrastructure technology across the Wells Fargo’s global footprint. We partner as one team across all of WFT to deliver simple, safe and sound, innovative and integrated IT products and services. Infrastructure platforms and services are foundational strategic enablers that underpin our company goal to satisfy our customer’s financial needs and help them succeed financially. We deliver to this every day through our integrated services that enable high availability, increased speed to market, a lower cost of ownership, strong risk management, security and agility.

Technology Infrastructure has recently formed a new division known as Core Engineering Services made up of over 2000 highly skilled technology professionals globally. This division brings together core infrastructure technology engineering domains, and their management functions, including: Data Center Management, Enterprise Hosting Services, Enterprise Network Services, and Enterprise Database Management. This move was made in support of enabling the Wells Fargo Technology vision, roadmap, and streamlined target operating model.

The Position:
Reporting to our Core Engineering Services leader, this Hosting Services Leader is responsible for design, engineering and maintenance of Wells Fargo’s Global Hosting platforms. Additionally, this leader will be expected to lead the development and implementation of next generation hosting strategies and solutions in partnership across infrastructure, CIO and line of business teams to realize Well Fargo’s business strategies.

The Hosting Services organization is accountable globally for engineering and management of Wells Fargo’s Infrastructure as a Service platform, Distributed Compute, Mainframe/Midrange, Enterprise Storage, and Data Protection Services (Archive, Backup). These technologies and services are designed to provide a highly available (24x7x365), dependable and cost effective platform for our business and customers. The hosting environment is one of the world’s largest enterprise class compute and storage environments, spanning globally across the world.

Hosting Services also partners closely with CIO, CTO, IS and Risk organizations to define, engineer and implement transformational cloud strategies to further enable Wells Fargo’s business goals. The candidate will lead this transformation within infrastructure to engineer an integrated hosting services platform bringing together multiple disciplines to enable a software defined infrastructure platform capable of servicing both cloud native and non-native workloads. The Hosting Services team partners broadly with all Information Technology organizations, Information Security, Staff Groups, Risk Management and all Lines of Business (LOBs) to ensure Hosting technology solutions and services are designed to enable business and customers, while operating in full compliance with corporate risk, security and regulatory policies.


This leader will provide strategic leadership along with day to day hands-on management for the Hosting Services organization. The selected leader will have direct accountability for driving and implementing hosting strategy as Wells Fargo continually modernizes its datacenter and cloud strategy. The selected candidate will have domain responsibility for end-to-end hosting technology engineering and service enablement, executive-level vendor management, storage, backup, compute vendor strategy, lifecycle management, configuration management, patch management, asset management, and operational risk management for the hosting domain.

The leader will also be accountable for the development and governance of specific hosting/cloud related technology policies and standards in accordance with the overall IT Governance construct. They will also partner with other organizations to contribute as appropriate in the development of policies that influence on how hosting services are managed and maintained.

Additionally, this role will manage a very large, highly complex budget and be accountable for all planning, forecasting and on-going financial management in direct partnership with Corporate Finance. This includes maintaining and updating applicable cost recovery methods applicable to hosting services.

Required Qualifications

12+ years of technology infrastructure and strategy experience
7+ years of management experience in technology

Desired Qualifications

Experience managing multiple enterprise-wide technology infrastructure or service components or all end-to-end distributive infrastructure activities for the enterprise

8+ years of leadership experience in a production environment
Successful track record of leading a 24/7/365 escalation coverage environment
8+ years of experience managing an organization of 250+ team members
5+ years senior leader experience with demonstrated ability to collaborate and effectively partner/influence at the senior executive level to include (Operating and or Management Committee members)
Experience managing base and incremental budget through multiple cost centers with an annual budget of $200M or greater
Experience setting strategic direction of our vision, technology roadmap, and operating model as it relates to core infrastructure technology
Demonstrated prior experiences in effective engagement with operating & management committee executives, board members and external regulators
Strong relevant prior experiences in effective management of technology financials and risk
Ability to effectively drive and lead change in an organization with Wells Fargo’s size, scale and complexity
Demonstrated experience in building, leading, developing and retaining a high performing team of leaders, strong technical experts and high performing professionals in a cultural environment that achieves results through team member engagement and satisfaction
