The Electronics and Imaging division of Dow-DuPont is a leading provider of specialty materials to many of the world’s top component and hardware manufacturers. Our materials serve semiconductor, IC packaging, circuit board, displays, solar energy markets and customers around the globe. We seek to fill a Business Development (BD) Manager position in the San Francisco Bay Area. This role will report into the BD function and will work with customers across the Electronics and Imaging (E&I) business to create new opportunities to grow revenue in the area of High Speed/High Frequency, RF applications. This is a role that can span across the entire network architecture from the edge to the core, and has implications into 5G and wireless technologies.
The individual will be expected to demonstrate strong capabilities in new business development with key customers in datacom, telecom, automotive, military and consumer market segments. The individual requires RF design expertise that enables effective work with customers on design elements and to translate those needs into material properties that can be developed within the Dow-DuPont E&I business segment. They need to be capable of interpreting new technology and market trends to create advanced development programs that target substantial growth within the E&I business. This role is a global role that will require travel, but it will be based out of Sunnyvale, CA.
Identify RF growth opportunities for E&I as the emergences of 5G technologies is realized, by working directly with customers and internal commercial and technical leaders.
Spin-off new product concepts from the internal development work and set them up to grow into revenue generating initiatives through collaboration with the E&I circuits and packaging businesses and their R&D and finance directors.
Build and develop external deals and opportunities that can extend new technologies or provide an option for future technology monetization.
Validate on-going value propositions against external trends. Make recommendations for change in business model or product roadmaps, with options, when gaps are identified.
The individual will work with a team of internal RF engineers and serve as the commercial facing leader to link DuPont products and technologies to customer unmet needs for design-ins and design-wins.
The creation of a time-paced roadmap is a must; with programs that span short term (<1 year) and med/long term (3-5 years) growth opportunities for the business.
Support Key Account Managers (KAMs) in project management and customer interactions.
Represent E&I in relevant customer meetings and industry consortia when appropriate.
Marketplace Credibility: The successful candidate will be someone who has built a first-rate reputation with partners, customers and investors in the electronics space. S/he will be known to our customers and has a track record of working well with them.
Market Sensing: Deep subject matter expertise is of importance, so that this business leader is capable of setting a direction that addresses advances in technologies that relate to RF applications in datacom, telecom, automotive, military and consumer segments. The successful candidate will be able to segment the needs of each market space to uncover growth areas that align with the E&I competencies and capabilities.
Entrepreneurship: To realize our goals we seek a candidate who can build significant wins (revenue, profit, value) while using scarce resources carefully in the attempt.
Technical aptitude: E&I is a technology business and since the BD Manager will deal with state-of-the-art OEMs and clients that possess exceptional engineering and design talent, it is important for the candidate to have strong technical skills. An advanced electrical engineering degree with an emphasis in RF design, is a must.
Communication: New ideas are difficult for teams to embrace. Communication skills are essential for this BD Manager to be successful. These skills are required to translate the needs of clients to the organization and to enlist teams at all levels to stand behind the growth opportunities. It is critical for this person to be a good listener and to be easy to talk with, but it is expected that s/he also remains persistent and unrelenting in moving their growth agenda forward through a diplomatic sense of urgency.
Business and Financial Acumen: Business skills are required to develop all levels of business cases – from estimates to get a commercial effort launched, to detailed cost analysis and full business planning activities.
Leadership: The right candidate will be someone who can lead with passion and intensity and with a sense of mission. We are looking for a leader who can evangelize a whole new way of thinking about the markets we serve.

Education and Experience
The preferred candidate will have demonstrable business skills and an advanced degree in a relevant technical area (engineering, chemistry, physics, etc…), with 10+ years of experience related to RF design.
A PhD in any of the relevant technical areas would be desirable. Industry experience in marketing/product management/sales/business development is desired. Additional skills in the area of strategic planning and cross-functional team leadership are desirable. The candidate should have international business experience, with specific travel and experience in Japan, Korea, China, and Taiwan.
