Fusion Academy Alexandria is located in the heart of historic Old Town Alexandria within walking distance of several restaurants, shops and two Metro stops. Our campus occupies the first floor of the John Carlyle building overlooking beautiful green space. Our building includes a gym, secured parking garage, and an urban beekeeper. Position Summary:
Fusion Academy Alexandria has an opening in MAY for an enthusiastic full-time music teacher. (We are a year-round school with reduced summer hours.) In addition to teaching classes, this person will also be involved with campus activities and tasked with developing a full music program. Qualifications Required:
A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required for consideration.
Teaching credentials are a plus but are not mandatory, we welcome applicants who want to become great teachers.
Experience with students with learning differences and ADHD is a plus but not mandatory.
The ideal candidate is outgoing, well organized, willing to apply technology and all its advantages, and is eager to work in a highly dynamic, energetic school setting with amazing co-workers and an incredible school culture.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Provide a one-to-one teaching experience in the areas of music creation (songwriting, composition, beat making), audio recording and music production (especially electronic music production), and traditional musical instruction like instrumental music (guitar, drums, bass, keyboard) and music fundamentals/enrichment (theory, appreciation) at grade levels 6-12. 70% of the teaching load will focus on musical creativity through music technology.
