GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Under direct supervision of the Residential Floor Coordinator, and general supervision of the Residential Managers, The Residential Child Care Worker will provide a safe, secure, healthy environment for the students in the residential program. The Residential Child Care Worker will be responsible for implementing and facilitating all program activities on the unit to which they are assigned. The Residential Child Care Worker will develop and nurture therapeutic relationships with students and maintain appropriate professional relationships with Related Service Staff,
Education Staff, and other Residential Child Care Staff for the purpose of developing an effective milieu of treatment for the student.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide supervision for all the students to which they are assigned, assuring their safety and security.
Knowledgeable of and accountable for the whereabouts of assigned students at all times.
Monitors the physical and mental health and well-being of the students.
Communicate all usual or out of the ordinary situations to Residential Floor Coordinator.
Assure students receive appropriate medical or social-emotional supports when needed.
Complete all paperwork regarding incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
Communicate information regarding incidents to the Floor Coordinators or Residential
Managers in a timely and efficient manner.
Implement on a daily basis all unit/program activities and procedures.
Assist in and conduct a variety of safe, healthy enjoyable leisure activities appropriate for adolescent boys.
Direct and supervise the residents in the cleanliness of the room and unit.
Assure compliance of all residents with the rules and procedures of MDP.
Be consistent, reasonable and fair in the enforcement of the behavioral expectations for students.
Maintain state regulations, standards, MDP policies and procedures on the unit.
Provide feedback to the Residential Floor Coordinator with issues of non-compliance.
Work collaboratively with Activities Coordinator, Clinical Staff, and other departments to ensure quality care of residents.
Provide backup, support, and assistance to other staff in the management of emergencies or crisis.
Is available for transportation of student’s for appointments, visits, etc.
Participate in all In-service training programs required by regulations or directed by supervisor.
Meet with Residential Floor Coordinator for supervision bi-monthly either individually or in a group.
Participate in meetings as directed by supervisor.
Ensure the safety and security of the student’s personal property.
Actively pursue personal and professional development.
Perform all other duties as assigned which are consistent with the position and the individual’s competency.

QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
Bachelor degree or credits towards degree preferred; High School diploma required.
EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience with adolescent population preferred
SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to have flexible schedule. Shift times may change depending on program needs.
Professional experience working with adolescents preferred.
Demonstrate ability to provide consistent, structured environment for students.
Demonstrate ability to be open minded, not imposing personal values or world-views on students.
Willingness to work with special needs students with challenging, sometimes aggressive behaviors.
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Driver’s license.
