SCAD Savannah seeks a farm manager to oversee operations and all aspects of production for the indoor, SCAD4GOOD hydroponic farm and farming initiative, two organic gardens (The Hive community garden and Back40), and an apiary.
In collaboration with staff, work-study students, and volunteers, you will be responsible for the expert maintenance and cultivation of the farm. You will also serve as a knowledgeable representative for the initiative and ensure the success of all gardening entities while overseeing their associated upkeep, production, and programming.
The ideal candidate should have a high attention to detail and thrives in an evolving, fast-paced environment. The candidate should possess a desire to positively impact the community and a passion for sustainability. The candidate must have excellent communication skills and demonstrated, effective experience managing a team, including students and volunteers. The candidate should be able to consistently lift 20-40 pounds and pass the DOT medical exam.
The Hive community garden and Back40 are established organic gardens that produce over 2,500 pounds of produce annually that is donated to local organizations. The apiary, located in Back40, is an established collection of beehives yielding about 45 gallons of honey annually as well as a hub for educational activities and community outreach.
- Bachelor’s degree or 1-2 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
- Experience and education in hydroponic and container farming, sustainability, farm management, beekeeping, landscaping, and organic gardening
- Certification in safety and/or food safety standards
- Valid driver’s license

Pay: $34,876.00 - $75,235.00 per year
