You’ll be a part of a world-class Brand Stewardship and Impact team whose job is to help REI, the nation’s largest consumer co-op, further the organization’s impact on behalf of its 17 million members. The successful candidate will be a rock-solid content developer and communication maven who will bring REI stories to life and help the co-op connect with employees, members and media. You’ll contribute to REI’s success by creating and publishing compelling content across internal and external communication platforms. The goal? To support employee, member and community engagement and bolster REI’s brand, reputation and community leadership.

You’ll achieve this through creative content development and delivery and savvy project management—all while living up to REI’s values and mission. You will demonstrate an outstanding track record in the craft of written and multimedia communications. You will be a creative, self-starting team member with the ability to influence and lead peers in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines and complex, cross-divisional projects.

Develop multi-media content for internal and external channels—such as REI blog posts, employee features, leadership blogs, press materials, video, podcasts and more. This includes interviewing subject-matter experts across the co-op at every level
Create materials for our executive speaking platform and serve as opportunity lead for select speeches. This includes managing content development in partnership with executive and Public Affairs leadership, developing and managing work plan, amplifying across internal and external channels and measuring success.
Support development of strategy and lead content creation for in-person engagement moments such as leadership conference, managers forum, and others as directed. This includes developing messaging framework and flow, managing communication and follow up to maximize the power of moments like these.
Publish content on internal and external channels, including WordPress, SharePoint, REI.com, national news distribution tools and other content management systems
Search out stories across the business and interview subject-matter experts
Develop communication plans for projects as directed, such as product launches, company initiatives and others
Develop and maintain asset library of videos, photos and other multimedia content; educate team on its use and be expert in REI’s broader multimedia asset tools
Serve as expert in REI’s brand standards and support team in consistent execution
Serve as project manager for communication strategies, as directed, managing work plans and timelines end-to-end
Analyze and share regular metric reports to demonstrate effectiveness of communications strategy
Represent Brand Stewardship & Impact team on cross-divisional tactical working teams, as directed
Bring your passion and expertise
2-4 years’ internal or external communication experience
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications/journalism, or marketing
First-class writing and editing experience in a variety of media.
Strong project management skills, including development of project plans and timelines.
Demonstrated experience in planning, measuring and evaluating communication effectiveness, using analytic tools like Google Analytics.
Experience working in a retail organization or with a distributed workforce.
Highly skilled at developing professional presentations in Powerpoint and/or Prezi.
Ability to efficiently produce multimedia content.
Challenges status quo, champions change and influences others to change.
Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environment, juggling competing priorities.
