ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY MANAGER - Full Time Position
Lead the development and execution of a Goodwill Industries of West Michigan (GIWM) community focused environmental sustainability initiative. Position involves identifying and developing environmental sustainability opportunities to serve the West Michigan region through disassembly and recycling.
Lead the effort to create an environmental sustainability vision for the company encompassing employees, community, and planet.
Collaborate with internal GIWM groups and community partners to develop a coordinated environmental sustainability plan.
Serve as the internal leader and "go to" expert for environmental sustainability, monitoring emerging trends, programs and issues, and communicating and educating others on sustainability topics.
Serve as the central point of contact for any and all interfaces with internal and external customers on the subject of environmental sustainability.
Manage budget to control expense and meet revenue goals.
Market environmental sustainability program services. Make sales calls.
Responsible for all bid preparation and related contract negotiations.
Build effective partnerships with external organizations to support environmental sustainability efforts and budget.
Keep abreast of new methods, materials or equipment applicable to environmental sustainability efforts and budget.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Environment, Sustainability or related field preferred.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in leading environmental compliance, pricing and bidding, and environmental sustainability programs.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Capable of building relationships and establishing credibility with area businesses.
Demonstrated ability to lead employees and manage effectively.
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work closely with others.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, team oriented work environment.
Demonstrated ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy, analytical thinking and problem solving skills.
Maintain a valid driver license and good driving record.
Medium work, occasionally exerting up to 100 pounds of force and/or 50 pounds of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, handling, hearing, talking, and seeing.
Inside generally 100%, but may include outside work on occasion.
Moderate emotional effort. Work environment sometimes hectic with occasional high stress. Short deadlines requiring some overtime.
Use of personal vehicle to conduct agency business, as needed.
Some travel required for sales calls to develop relationships and to follow-up on leads.
